Modern AU: When Satine stormed off from Obi-Wan's house after a fight, she really didn't intend on waiting outside until he came out and apologized. And she defiantly wasn't prepared for it to be this cold.

"Satine, you can't just sit around doing nothing and waiting for this to unfold!" Obi-Wan yelled from his spot on the couch across from Satine. "It's idiotic!"

"Says the man who's been running from his past for 3 years!" Satine retorted, standing up and grabbing her bag. She had simply stated her opinion, of course Obi-Wan had started an argument over it. Well, technically it was just as much her fault, but it's not like she was about to admit that.

"I have not been running from my past," Obi-Wan too stood up and walked up to Satine and took her cheek in his hand. For a split second Satine was certain he was going to lean in and kiss her, perhaps apologize, but his eyes remained as cold as ever. He was waiting for her, and Satine had no intention of letting him win.

Instead she turned and stormed out of the house with a simple mumble of "You're infuriating."

As she stepped outside, Satine instantly wished she had put on a warmer jacket. She knew it was snowing, but it was never this cold. She couldn't even feel her fingers, that couldn't be a good sign. Reaching her car, she happily got in and turned on the heat. Somehow, she couldn't leave yet. Maybe the small inkling of hope that Obi-Wan would come rushing out, ask for her forgiveness, hold her and whisper that he was sorry. No, she knew it was useless. He was just as stubborn as her. He would never admit his defeat. Still, she couldn't leave.

Satisfied with sitting in her warm car for a few minutes more, she turned back to Obi-Wan's house. It was small, meant for just one person, himself. It had been like that for awhile, until Satine all but moved in with him. It was rare for her to go back to her own place very often. She'd considered selling it, but never enough to mention it to Obi-Wan. There were always nights, like tonight, when they would get into some stupid argument and Satine would leave.

Satine was taken back by a bright flash of lights. They were the Christmas lights Obi-Wan had strung up set up on an automatic timer for 6:00. It was so much earlier than Satine had thought it was.

A small movement from the houses window drew her attention back up. It was Obi-Wan, he had glanced up, mostly likely also surprised by the lights. Satine could've sworn she saw tears in his eyes. Technically, it was Christmas eve, and if she were to leave, it would be the first Christmas eve the two of them had spent apart in three years. He had a reason to be sad. They both did. It was for that reason that Satine stepped out of her car and back into the chilly air, rushing towards Obi-Wan's front door. When she reached it she couldn't bring herself to knock.

Turning around, she sat if the front step, wrapping her coat tight around herself. She was surprised when she heard the front door open to reveal a tired looking Obi-Wan holding two cups of hot cocoa(not coffee, that would be a bad idea), a blanket thrown over his shoulder. He sat down next to her, set down both cups, and placed the blanket around her.

"Better?" he asked and nuzzled his head into her neck and gave her a quick kiss. Satine didn't trust her voice, instead she nodded. "You're freezing," Obi-Wan stated after a moment, his voice muffled. "Why don't we go inside."

"I like that idea," Satine replied and grabbed the cup Obi-Wan had set down with her shaking hand and took a sip. The liquid was warm, burning her tongue slightly, but much better than the chilly winds outside. Keeping the blanket tight around her, Obi-Wan wrapped an arm around Satine and half carried her inside. He instantly switched on the fireplace and set them both down on the couch.

For minutes they sat in silence, arms tightly around each other. Neither of them apologized, not only out of stubbornness, but because not being alone was enough. It was only when Satine subtly moved, trying to steal more of Obi-Wan's warmth, that they bothered to speak.

"Satine?" Obi-Wan let his concern show for a split second before covering it back up with expertise. Satine responded with a slight groan. "Are alright?"

"Cold..." Satine shivered and Obi-Wan pulled her closer, running his hand in circles on her lower back. "Obi-Wan, I love you."

"I love you too, darling," Obi-Wan kissed the top of her head. "Do you want me to get more blankets?"

"I'm fine," Satine replied, punctuating it with a kiss.

"You should've knocked, Satine, I'm not mad." Satine didn't say anything at first, and Obi-Wan worried that he misspoke. He didn't want to start another argument, he really didn't.

"And neither am I, not anymore," she eventually said, shifting slightly to hold Obi-Wan instead. "But you know how stubborn I am, both of us are."

"Yes, I know," he happily rested against her. "I'm just glad you didn't leave, my dear. It wouldn't be Christmas eve without you."

"It's still relatively earlier..."

"And?" Obi-Wan looked up and raised an eyebrow at her.

"We should watch a movie." Satine left Obi-Wan's grasp, leaving him disappointed at the loss of contact. She began to look through Christmas movies, holding one up every so often to see if Obi-Wan was okay with it. The eventually came to an agreement and Satine settled in Obi-Wan's arms again.

"You're still shivering," Obi-Wan noted.

"I'll be fine, I already said that," was Satine's simple reply.

"You worry me sometimes," Obi-Wan shook his head with a smile. But despite that, he wouldn't want anyone else in the world next to him.

Its officially winter break, and I would naturally say expect more updates, but I can't guarantee anything. Hope you enjoyed this(I know its terrible...)!
