Satine and Padme have always been close friends, and perhaps they know more about each other's secret lives than previously thought.
Satine sat across from Padme, setting down her full plate of food without a second thought. She took a deep breath before relaxing into the couches pillows.
"You look worried," Padme remarked, also setting down her plate. She tried and failed to meet Satine's gaze, the Duchess more intent on staring at the ground, eyes closed. "Satine?"
"I'm sorry," she quickly opened her eyes and looked back up. "I'm just, I don't know...disappointed, perhaps."
"It's almost Christmas!" Padme exclaimed, giving Satine a cheery smile. "What's wrong?"
"Don't get me wrong, I love Coruscant. Still, I wish I was back on Mandalore, at least for the holidays," Satine let out a sigh before whispering more quietly, "at least I have Korkie there."
Padme knew Satine didn't intend to have her last comment heard, knew that there was something else bothering her, something that she was less likely to admit. Something that Padme could relate to. "You're waiting for someone, aren't you."
Satine looked at her in shock, which Padme returned with a trusting smile. "Yes," she murmured, nervously tapping her fingers along the side of the chair. Padme couldn't blame her, if she had been questioned like that she was certain that she would try to deny it.
"And whoever it is that you're waiting for, he's stuck somewhere else, won't be able to make it here before Christmas," Padme continued, her smile fading as she remembered the last conversation with Anakin, when he had informed her that he wouldn't be able to make it back to Coruscant within the next day. He was stuck on the frontlines with Obi-Wan and Ahsoka.
"Yes," Satine responded again, her expression mimicking Padme's own. "How did you know?"
"It seems we've found ourselves stuck in the same position," she let out a small laugh. Satine opened her mouth to speak, only to quickly close it again. A second later she joined Padme laughing.
"And may I ask who it is you're waiting for," Satine asked dryly. Padme hesitated, choking on her words. She and Anakin didn't plan on telling anyone of their relationship, but after all the pestering she'd done towards Satine, the duchess deserved to know, That, and she trusted Satine with her life.
"Anakin Skywalker." Although Padme had said his name so many times, it sounded strange to say his names while revealing her most kept secret to someone else.
"I assumed as much," Satine was more relaxed now.
"Is it that obvious," Padme raised her eyebrow.
"Just to me," Satine smirked. "I've seen the say he looks at you, how he smiles when your name is mentioned."
"If you've noticed that then I'm sure you've realized that Obi-Wan looks at you the same way," Padme countered. Blush crept up over Satine's face. "It's not that obvious," Padme assured her. "Anakin told me what happened on the Coronet. It's easier to notice things when you know the backstory." Satine breathed a sigh of relief.
"Oh good, the last thing we need on this war is for everyone to know about our Jedi lovers."
"Husband, actually," Padme rested her chin on her hand. "Anakin and I are married." Satine shock her head in disbelief.
"I want a full explanation." And with that, Padme told her everything. It took awhile, she felt obliged to fill in every detail, and when she was done, Satine had cleared her glass.
"What about you and Obi-Wan?" Padme asked.
"I don't know, honestly. I have feelings for him, he knows that. I believe he returns them, but," she sighed. "It's complicated."
"I never thought I'd hear those words from you."
"Neither did I," she continued with a laugh.
"He loves you, Satine. Whether he'd admit it or not." Padme placed a reassuring hand on Satine's shoulder. "I say make the most of your time with him."
"That's what I plan to do, if he ever gets back from the damned battlefield!"
"If who ever gets back from that damned battlefield," a voice mocked from the doorway. Padme recognized it, and spinning around she found herself face to face with Anakin. "And why are the trees lights off!" He switched the lights on. The room brightening up with a soft glow.
"What are you doing here! I thought you wouldn't be back until after Christmas," Padme threw herself into Anakin's arms, the Jedi knight pulling back only slightly due to Satine's presence. Noticing this, Padme leaned forward to whisper into his ear. "It's alright, she knows." Anakin relaxed, but not without a scolding glare. "We can trust her, I promise."
"If you say so, angel," Anakin whispered back, kissing her forehead.
Satine stood up, pulling her coat on and began to make her way towards the door. "I'll let you two have your alone time. Though, is-"
Anakin didn't wait for her to finish, he knew what she was going to ask. "Obi-Wan's just leaving the senate building, If you hurry you hurry you might catch him."
Satine smiled, rushing out the door with a quick "thanks."

Obi-Wan had already hopped into his speeder and started it up when Satine came running up to him. "Obi, wait," she yelled out, and the Jedi master turned with a smile.
"I assumed you were on Mandalore, my dear," he turned of the engine and stepped out of the speeder to embrace her warmly. "I missed you."
"I missed you, too." Satine rested her head on his shoulder. "It's been too long."
"It has, hasn't it," Obi-Wan murmured, kissing her forehead.
"You said you wouldn't be back this early, what happened," Satine asked, ignoring the strange looks from people passing by. She had no intention of leaving Obi-Wan's grip.
"Some miracle. The separatists surrendered, we won fasted than anticipated," Obi-Wan smiled.
"Some miracle," Satine repeated, leaning into him, not hesitating to quickly kiss his cheek. "And now that you're here, let's make the most of it."
