Modern AU: Overnight it snowed three feet, enough for it to be declared a snow day for Coruscant High. Ahsoka and Padme have plans on how to enjoy it, but Anakin seems interested in more reckless ideas.
Anakin was asleep and the couch when he heard a loud tapping on the door. He groaned into his pillow before sloppily throwing the blanket off of him and standing up. He unlocked the door and opened it, not expecting the chilly outside breeze or the two people standing on his doorstep. Padme had her hair pulled up, held by hat. She wore a warm sweater and scarf with a larger coat pulled over. Ahsoka stood next to her, also wearing a coat, the hood pulled up over her head and speckled with snowflakes. She may have been a grade lower than Anakin and Padme, but she was already Padme's height.
"Hey Skyguy!" Ahsoka smiled, reaching out with her gloved hand to show Anakin something on her phone, an article titled 'Coruscant High Snow Day.' She was grinning as his eyes darted across the screen.
"We have the day off!" Anakin grinned back. And sure enough, when he looked behind his two friends, the driveway and road were covered in a thick layer of snow. There was no way that the roads were open. "How'd you get here?"
"We walked," Padme replied with a shrug, "it's not like our house is that far away."
"Well the you've got to be freezing," Anakin beckoned them to come inside. "I think I have some hot cocoa..."
Ahsoka and Padme walked inside, brushing of their clothing and taking a seat at the barstools at the kitchen's island while Anakin began to rummage through cabinets, looking for mugs and cocoa.
"Ah," he explained and pulled out the cocoa mix, pouting it into 3 mugs and filling them with water. He placed them in the microwave, set the timer, and took a seat next to Padme and Ahsoka. "So what's the plan for today?"
"We could walk back to my house, grab the sleigh or something and head to the park," Ahsoa suggested.
"I've heard there's mountains of snow there, it would be great!" Padme added. "What do you think, Anakin?"
Anakin frowned. "Too boring. It's been a few years since we've had enough snow to going skiing, or snowboarding. Why go to the park when we could go there!"
Both Ahsoka and Padme gave him an unimpressed glare. "And how do we get there," Ahsoka tapped her fingers along the tabletop.
The microwave beeped and Anakin grabbed the hot cocoa and placed them on the counter. "I have a plan," he winked, Ahsoka and Padme exchanging a worried glance.
Anakin, Ahsoka, and Padme finished their cocoa and followed Anakin outside.
"If you're going to suggest we drive," Ahsoka mumbled uncertainly, "I would like to say that I personally do not want to get arrested by driving on a closed down road.
"I second that," Padme raised a hand.
"The lucky for you," Anakin typed in the code for the garage door and it began to open, "I have another option." The garage door opened to reveal a small snowmobile, Anakin showing off the vehicle with a smirk.
"And how did you get that," Padme questioned.
"That will remain a secret," Anakin hopped into the snowmobile. "It has a permit too, no one will stop us driving this."
"To the slopes then," Ahsoka hopped in after Anakin. Padme sighed and followed.
"To the slopes!" Anakin pushed the key in the three set off into the snowy streets.
The ride to the ski resort was slower than usual, which wasn't much of a surprise considering that they were pushing piles of new, fluffy snow out of their path as they made their way down the street. When they finally got to the resort, there were only a few cars, and perhaps double the amount of visitors. A large tree, 60 feet tall at least, was decorated and placed in the center of the main entryway, and all the stores were decorated with warm lights. Anakin had always enjoyed it here, but during the holidays it looked magical.
He parked the snowmobile and slid out, followed by Ahsoka and Padme.
"Anakin," Padme called out as he opened the door to a rental store for ski's. "Ahsoka and I are gonna get a sled. We'll be over there," she pointed to a small area away from the ski slopes. There were small mound of snow that would work to sled down.
"You two are boring," Anakin groaned from his position in the doorway.
"We're compromising. You want to ski, we want to sled."
"Fine," Anakin walked into the store. Padme looked to Ahsoka, who had a sled pulled over her shoulder and the two made their way in the opposite direction of Anakin.
Setting down the sled, they decided to make a snowman first, Padme rolling up the large ball for the base while Ahsoka worked on the middle. It was only when they heard a victories yell from the ski slopes when they placed the head onto the other two snowballs that they looked away from their work. Unsurprisingly, Anakin stood up at the bottom of the hill, brushed of the snow from his hair, and went back to the lift.
"Isn't that a black diamond course?" Ahsoka asked, shoving a stick into the snowman for an arm.
"Yes," Padme wrapped her scarf around it.
"Hasn't he only been skiing twice before?"
Padme replied "yes" once again.
