Lulu was one of the most absolutely adorable little kids I’ve seen or met. And sure, when something like this happens, most guys would run away, and I don’t blame them. With their relatively new girlfriend that things are kind of being rushed with, they wouldn’t want to risk getting even more serious with them. Pushing them into marriage and kids. But honestly Taylor was not like that. She wasn’t like most girls. I actually didn’t realize how much of a big deal ‘Forever and Always’ was to her. I'm guessing it’s something Joe used to say.
I kind of wanted to talk about Joe though! Not to rub it in her face that he left, and that I'm so much better. No, that wasn’t it! I wanted to see if anything was bugging her. To see if she is having second thoughts about running into our relationship. Because no one that perfect should have to hide their feelings.
Because I also didn’t want to get hurt. Because honestly, I think she’s the one….
She is the one.
How can I be so sure? Because when she looks into my eyes I can feel the love. And maybe she felt that same way she looked at me. Because she was the most beautiful, no, most, flawless girl I had ever seen or met. She’s so down to earth, and the fact that she can tell the paparazzi to leave us alone. And they do, and then even when we kiss, and they did come back, she didn’t care.
That's obviously the girl of my dreams.
I wrapped my arm around her as we watched Lulu attempt to eat ice cream politely. But she was only what, four? Of course she's going to have an ice-cream stash! Tay rested her head on my shoulder and laughed, but it came out like a sigh. It was her turn to be faking a smile, not Claire.
"What's wrong?" Somewhat softly.
She was avoiding eye contact. "Nothing."
"Swiftie..."
"Lautie..."
"What's wrong?"
"Nothing!" She looked up at me.
I took a lick of the chocolate caramel swirl ice cream. She stole it from my hands and made a swirl with her tongue on the top. Then she kissed me passionately with her frozen lips, which made Lulu giggle.
She licked her lips, finishing the remaining specks of ice cream here and there.
Taylor took a napkin and started wiping Lulu’s ice cream beard off. Lulu was laughing and giggling, making it harder for Taylor to get her clean.
And then all the sudden she stopped. Her eyes wide as she grabbed her sweater picked up Lulu and whispered, “Let’s go!”
I was really confused at that statement. There was a quiver in her voice and almost like she was scared. Lulu was over tired and was just going along with whatever was going to happen. Taylor started running down the streets in her oxfords. Both her and Lulu’s blonde hair flowing in the wind. I caught up to them.
She stopped running after she turned the corner. I pulled on to her shoulders and tried to my eye contact, but she just kept turning her head.
“I'm fine.” She insisted after I took Lulu from her hands.
I finally got a glimpse of her face. There were tears in her eyes. When they arrived, I wasn’t sure. I hugged her and she wiped her tears. I didn’t have to pry at all this time.
“That was Danielle and Mrs. Jonas. Mrs. Jonas was like my second mom.”
“How could you be so sure?”
“Hearing their voices at every family get together, every holiday… you get to learn someone’s voice. And I'm sorry I'm crying! I'm not crying because I don’t love you! I'm crying because I love and I'm starting something new, and the fact that I can let this get to me… sucks!”
