Past

*Still Jade's POV"
" Here is your request" he said. Handed me a cup of coffee.

"It all started freshman year in high school. I was seeing this boy name Jake. Jake was a saddle bronc rider. He was sweet, handsome and charming. Everything was going great from freshman year to junior year. Once senior year rolled around he became this complete different person. I started rodeo'n more senior year. He stopped going to high school rodeos senior year. I decided to rodeo with Cody and Tyler. He knew them too. He was living with us for awhile. Till one night I came home late. He started arguing about how I don't spend as much time with him. I started yelling at him. At some point, things got intense and he.. he hit me. There was no one around. my parents were out of town. I couldn't believe that he hit me. Once he hit me, I packed my bags and left. He tried grabbing me but I escaped from his grip. I stayed over at Cody's place.

The next day I had a bruised arm and face. I knew my parents were coming home today, so I wore a long sleeve and covered my bruise.

It took a couple of days for my bruises to heal. I went to school and Cody noticed that I wasn't being myself. I was this happy and normally girl who was living life.

I couldn't bare to talk or see Jake at all. He tried talking to me but I kept refusing. When I got home, my parents weren't home yet. I didn't expect Jake to be there. So I went riding and Cody decided to join me.

After we got done riding the horses Jake shows up. He had a fake smile on his face. Cody was gonna help me unsaddle but Jake insisted. I hoped that Cody wouldn't let him. And he did .

He asked me why I was with Cody. I ignored him. He got fed up with me not speaking to him. Once again he took his chance and punched me. I had a busted lip afterwards."

"Why didn't you just break it off with him when he first hit you" LJ asked "Because he told me, if I tell anyone about this, he would hurt me just as much and don't get me wrong I tried to break it off. But he wouldn't leave me alone all" I replied.

"Back to the story. I tried to get away but he grabbed my arm and yanked me back towards him. He dislocated my shoulder when he did this. Once he left, I had no choice but to call Cody. Cody came by and saw me with a busted lip and holding my shoulder. He asked me what happened. I told him a lie. I was in so much pain when they put my shoulder back in place. I missed a couple of rodeos because of my shoulder. As much as I tried and tell Jake leave me alone, the more he got angry and beat me up. He was the one that cracked my ribs, and gave me these scars.

I was giving Rio (my old rope horse) a bath. Cody and Tyler said they were gonna come by. My phone started to ring, I was gonna pick it up but Jake snatched it out of my hand.

He asked who the hell was Blake. Blake was my recruiter from here. Before I could even speak, Jake back handed me hard across the face. I fell to the ground. Before he could kick me again, Cody grabbed and punched him. I had never seen Cody so pissed. I was laying there trying to get my vision back. Tyler was by my side, trying to keep me awake. But I blacked out.

I was at school one day when my dad called me. He told me that Rio has passed. He was poisoned. The vets did all they could to save him but he never came back! They took his blood before he passed and they sent the blood sample to every scientist but they couldn't find anything in his blood.

I loved that horse. And Jake knew he was my favorite horse. He made me the roper I am today. When my dad was unable to help me practice, that horse would show me my mistakes. I took care of him. I think he was on the one who poisoned him.

Jake NEVER apologized for what he did. Every single day, my body would be sore. He made my high school years a living hell.

Once I graduated high school, my parents gave my a truck and trailer. It's the one I have now. They didn't want me to stay in that town. Because I told them everything that has happened between Jake and I. My dad was pissed.

Of course Jake came by after the graduation ceremony and my dad totally gave him a beat down.

My dad broke his nose, gave him a busted lip and so on. After he got the ass kicking he deserved, my dad told me to get the hell out of this town and finish school somewhere else but here. That's how I winded up in Oklahoma.

I wanted to be far away from home. Ever since then, I never looked back" I said while trying to hold back my tears.

I just put my head down and let the tears fall.

"Jade.. look at me babe" LJ said in a soft tone. All he saw was tears running down my cheeks and wiped every one of them that fell from my eyes.

He pulled me in for a tight embrace. I never told anyone about what I went through in high school.

I sat there on his lap and cried into his shoulder.

"babe... I would NEVER hurt you in physical way or any other way.. I love you too much to even hurt you period. But we can't always let the past control our future. Your pain is my pain. And its my job to keep happy forever. If I did hurt you, I couldn't live with myself. I about nearly cried when you were telling me your story to be honest. Although the ending was pretty intense. Haha. Jade, at least you came out to be a successful person. Babe I love you so much that I can't even spend a day or even a second without you. But you gotta trust me. I do trust you. I can't imagine what my life would be without you." He explained.

Just by his voice and being in his arms, I felt safe.

"Babe... you have to at least try! I know it hurts but I will do everything in my power to protect you. I won't let anyone hurt you. You didn't deserve that. But I'm very grateful your brothers were actually there to stop him and your dad. Sweetheart..."

I fell asleep in his arms.

*LJ's POV*
Oh my god! I can't believe she went through all that. Being in a abusive relationship and losing the one thing she loved at the same time. It's just to much to take in. I've heard some stories about abusive relationships but I didn't think I would end up with a victim. I love her so much.

This just showed me how much one person can change your whole life around. But I am grateful that Cody and Tyler showed up before he laid another hand on her. All I want to do now is sleep and have her in my arms twenty four- seven.

She's a smart, independent, caring and beautiful. She had my heart from the moment I kissed her.

Man! What a dramatic high years for Jade. Going through an abusive relationship and nearly causing her not to attend college. How cute is LJ, when he opens up to her. Now you know why Jade lied about not being a relationship. I wouldn't blame her. I don't think you would even call that a relationship.
