Oklahoma Love

Round One

Yay! Today is the day of the finals. I am stoked to rope this morning. LJ dressed casual. T-shirt, ball cap, jeans and boots. 'Dam he looked good' I thought.

"Babe.. You ready" he asked.

"Yeah.."

I grabbed my shirt and cowboy hat. We headed out the door. Cody and Tyler were waiting in the lobby. We met up with them and went to the fair grounds. LJ parked the truck at the barn, so I can get Chancey. Once I did, we went to the trailer. I saddled him up, I looked at my phone and I had a hour to warm up. I grabbed out my calf rope from my rope can. Cody was putting on the bell, split, and skid boots.

"Jade.. You ready for this" Tyler asked.

"Yeah bro.. Little nervous but I'm stoked to rope" I said

"Give em hell Jade" Tyler said.

I jumped on Chancey and head over to the calves. I drew calf number twenty one. I looked at him, he seems a fair catch. I rode to the warm up pin, there were some girls. I warmed up my Chancey. I saw LJ sittin on the fence. I smiled at him.

"Hey stranger.. What's your name" I said.

"LJ.. And you are" he spoke.

"Jade" I said and then we shook hands.

He wouldn't let go of my hand. Then he pulled me towards him for a kiss.

"What was that for" I asked.

"Good luck.." LJ said.

"Thank you cowboy.."

"Oh I got something to tell you" he said.

"Wha---"

"Breakaway!" yelled one of the judges

LJ jumped on the back of Chancey and we head over to the box. Tyler and Cody were waiting for me. I was the seventh one out this morning. The first girl missed her calf. Couple girls went and now it's my turn. The fastest run is 6.7. I backed up in the corner, Chancey was leaning a bit, Tyler pulled Chancey towards him. Cody pushed out my calf for me. When I called it, I heard Cody yell "go"!

I caught my calf in 2.8 seconds. I drew a good calf this morning. Now I was leading the breakaway roping. I guess I was lucky enough to draw the money calf. Everyone else's calf broke slow or ran hard.

I rode back to the trailer and I unsaddled Chancey. I brushed him down and then put him back in the stall. When I got back, the boys were waiting for me.

"Nice run babe" LJ said and gave me a tight embrace.

"Thanks love" I said.

"What shall we do now" he asked.

"Tradeshow?"

"Lets go"

We all walked over to the tradeshow. LJ and I walked hand in hand. We roamed around the tradeshow, and I bought some stuff for the horses. Then we got hungry, we head back to the truck and to get something to eat.

"Where to" Cody asked.

"Don't matter" I said.

We drove around and found a steak house. We parked and then walked in. I'm surprise no body hasn't recognized LJ again. We took a seat and ordered our drinks. Then the waitress came back and took our order.

"You guys ready for tonight's performance" I asked the boys.

"Hell yeah! I waited to long for this" Cody said with excitement.

We ate and then left the steak house. We still had two hours to kill. We checked out their mall. It's completely different here. Nothing but western and classy stores. This is my kinda shopping mall. There was even a Cowboy Militia store, oh gosh I loved their clothing. I picked clothes for LJ to try on. When he did, I completely drooled. He looked extremely handsome!
