Family

I woke up to a New Mexico sunrise. I looked to my left and I see Jade, nowhere in site. I got out of bed and stretched. Made my way down to the kitchen. I saw her making breakfast.

I slowly walked towards her. Before I could even speak, she already recognized me.

"Good morning LJ" she said.

"Morning Love"

"How did you sleep LJ" Austin asked.

"Well.. And yourself"

"Like an angel"

Jade was laughing at her dad's sense of humor. I, myself just chuckled. Her dad seems to be on my case but at the same time he is pretty cool. This is why I get nervous when meeting the parents.

"Jade.. Can I talk to you" Austin asked.

"Yeah.. LJ can you watch the food.. Ill be back"

"Sure" I spoke.

*Jade's POV*

I heard my dad call me. I told LJ, to keep an eye on the food.

"Yeah"

"Are you aware of what happens when you date these rodeo celebrities"

"Yeah dad... I've seen it already. I trust him and I..I..I"

"You what Jade"

"I..I.. I love him dad"

"Why"

"Because.. He makes me feel beyond happy. We are always having fun and he never got in the way of my studies. Most of all he supports me dad"

"We'll sounds far to me.. Can you tell him to come in here" her dad said.

"Yeah sure"

After a short talk, I went back into the kitchen. LJ, was starting to make the eggs.

I told LJ, my dad needed to talk to him. He seemed calm about it but yet there was slight expression of fear. He gave me a quick kiss.

*LJ's POV*

'Time to face the parents' I thought to myself. I walked in the living room as calm as I can be.

"LJ"

"Austin"

"How long have you and my daughter been together"

"Going onto four months"

"Oh.. Do you love her?"

"Very much sir."

"You know LJ... Jen and I didn't get married until our sixth year together. I'm assuming that's a promise ring. Am I right?"

"Yes sir.."

"Are you keepin that promise"

"Yes sir... I love your daughter very much. She has been very supportive. I also support her too. I'm not in the way of her studies. She's been taking care of her horses well. The only time we get to see each other is in the morning and when she gets back from school or practice. I wouldn't dare to take her away from her studies. I know how much effort she has put into it. Even if she wanted to leave which I doubt it, I wouldn't let her. I'm trying my best to keep her happy."

"That's good.. I mean I was worried for moment. The fact that her ex has nearly costed her future. I'm very proud she met someone who supports her in every way. Take care of my daughter."

"Yes sir I will. No offense but are you always this stern with guys"

"Honestly LJ.. I'm not. With you, I was a bit hard on you. You rodeo celebrities tend to think you can take any girl you like. After you told me how much supportive you have been to my daughter. I gladly accept you into this family"
