I heard the ringing of my cell phone on the side table. I looked at the time, two in the morning? Who would be calling at this time of night?

"Hello?" I said groggily into the phone.

"Rory, go outside." Mom replied.

"Mom? Do you know what time it is?" I said, slightly annoyed

"I don't care what time it is. Put on a coat and walk out onto your balcony." She said.

I threw back the comforter, rolling my eyes in the process. I threw on a coat and made my way out to the living room. "Okay, I'm going."

"Move faster." She replied.

"You just woke me in the middle of the night, out of a dead sleep, I'm going to go as fast as I please." I said.

"Crabby." She said back.

"Yes, I am. Okay, I'm outside." I said.

"Now breath." She said.

I did as she asked. I inhaled deeply. It was freezing out. We had had a warm fall and winter, thanks to global warming, all we had experienced so far was rain. But mom, she had a sense for these things. Then, the first snow of the season lightly started to fall from the sky.

"I smell snow." She said, happily.

"And it couldn't have come at a better time." I said, finally smiling.

"Merry Christmas hun." Mom said.

"Merry Christmas Mom." I said back to her.

"Morning Ace." Logan whispered, laying next to me in bed. After mom's call I had gotten back to bed easily, and only been woken by Sandra once afterwards. Sandra had been in transition to her own crib for the past week, and it was getting better.

"Morning." I said, stretching.

"Did you get up in the middle of the night for something?" He asked.

"Twice. Sandra needed to be fed, and Mom called, we finally got our first snow fall of the year." I said, rolling my eyes.

"Late this year. Isn't it?" He said.

"I blame global warming." I replied.

"Well regardless, Merry Christmas Ace." He said.

"Merry Christmas Logan." I replied and then he kissed me, and I melted into it. We had some time before we needed to get Sandra up.

It was our first Christmas together with Sandra, and we were lucky enough to get a white one. Mom and Luke had drove up early enough so we could all have breakfast together, and unwrap gifts before heading to Grandmas for Christmas dinner. Logan had put a call to the car service so we could relax on the way there. He wanted to make sure this was the perfect Christmas, with it being our first one together as a sort of family.

Sandra had just past the four month mark. I couldn't believe how big she was getting already. I sat back on the couch with a mug of coffee and a blanket on my lap, and watched Logan interact with her, opening presents, reading a story, just being a dad. I didn't realize I could love him anymore than I already did, but while watching him love our beautiful little girl, through the pregnancy and then the past four months, I realized how possible it was.

"Ace, This one's for you." Logan said, handing me a small rectangular box, wrapped in red paper and topped with a small silver bow.

I took the box and carefully unwrapped it. I flipped open the lid, and inside sat a black and gold metal pen, and down the side in script writing was engraved one word, my nickname "Ace". It was the most prefect writing tool I had ever seen. "Logan, it amazing."

"I'm glad you like it. I know most people wouldn't like it, but with you being a well known writer, I thought it would be perfect for you." He said.

"I almost don't want to use it. Just because it's so perfect." I said with a chuckle.

"Well, I hope you'll use it." He replied.

"Breakfast." Luke said from the kitchen.

We arrived at the Blackstone house later that evening. The house had been decorated for Christmas. The front door was sporting a fresh wreath as well as garland that draped around it. Inside, the fireplace was already lit, crackling away. The house smelled of a mixture of vanilla and pine. The pine smell coming from all the greenery that Grandma had brought in for the holiday.

Grandma had turned one of the rooms into a small nursery for Sandra, that way she would have her own room when we came to stay here and we were back in the room we had previously stayed in during out last visit. I looked out the window at the crashing waves and the pink hued sky from the setting sun. I really loved it here, it was such a nice getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city, it reminded me sometimes of living in Stars Hallow. It's just such a different way of living. But at the same time I wouldn't trade it for what I have now.

My mind had so many different thoughts  and ideas going though it currently but the one I kept coming back around to was the idea of making a big gesture to show Logan that I was all in this time. Even Mom said that I'd probably have to be the one to make the move this time. So many ideas had come to mind but none of them seemed right.

"Rory? Are you okay?" Logan said, coming up behind me and wrapping his arms around my waist.

"Yeah. I'm fine. Why?" I asked, still looking out the window.

"You just seem distant today. Like you're somewhere else." He replied.

I let out a breath. Had I been distant? I leaned against him. "I'm sorry, I just have a lot on my mind right now. I don't mean to be distant."

"Is it something I can help with?" He asked.

"I don't think so. Not right now at least." I said.

"Okay, but if there's something I can do..." He started.

"Yes, I know, I will ask." I finished. "Now, where's our beautiful girl?"

"With Lorelai, getting spoiled." He said.

"Well I guess we should go get her and head over to Grandma's. We do have a Christmas dinner to attend after all." I said with a smile.

"You're very right, and Emily always has some of the best parties."

We walked out in search of our daughter and ready to enjoy a night full of family, great food, and good times. I could thing about my big gesture at a later time.
