"I hope everything goes alright for him...," Elis spoke quietly after a long while.
They were watching the dark sky, that held nothing at all. It looked like a void of nothing, the light from the city was too bright for the stars to be seen.
Zach shift in his seat, leaning forward, the empty cup of his Macchiato in between his hand. "I need to tell you something Elis." He sighed, a puff of warm breath spiraled in the cold air.
Elis turn her head to look at him. Zach held his head down, his gaze stuck on his leather shoes and the frost accumulated on the tip of the grass leaves. Elis was silent, waiting.
"I had a dream... a memory from a long time ago. A dream about you. A memory... of you."
Elis quirked an eyebrow, she leaned back on the cold bench, sipping some more of her warm latte. "I remember you said that the dreams were no longer memories, but of the future. How is it any different?"
"I know it was a memory, because you weren't human in this one." Zach glanced over his shoulder to take a look at Elis, to show her he was saying the truth. They held gaze for a moment, then Elis nodded.
Zach leaned back, their shoulders touch. He combed his hair back with his hands and sighed. "I was a wolf and you were a deer. You were injured badly, your blood was red on the white snow. That was the first and the last time we met in that life. Although I always saw you a lot of times before and you, me, but we never really met eyes until that moment. I remember the wind. I remember how cold it was. Everything was dead and you were going to die. I did not do anything, I was just standing there, watching the light diminish from your eyes."
Elis lets out a huge exhale, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear, suddenly find her wet boots more interesting than the tale. "That is pretty depressing with how the weather now and all..." she trailed of, adjusting the scarf looped around her neck for warmth.
He chuckled lowly and nodded. "Then we were reborn again. I was a general in command and you were the strongest man in that generation, an enemy of the king. We met in the battle field, you had me at the tip of your sword, filthy with blood of the fallen soldiers. Of my soldiers. Our eyes met and everything muted. The world felt ridiculous. The slash of swords, the screams, the grunt of fights... it was the only moment that mattered the most to me, the moment I realise I would put away my armor and my weapons, take my horse and you, and... I heard your exhale, your gaze pulled away from mine, a loud gasp then the sword that suddenly appear from your chest. Then at the moment before your fall, you strike into me and I fell with you." He hummed quietly.
"It was quite amusing really, when I died that day, I stumbled on the ground beside you, your head laid underneath me... death feels inviting and it didn't hurt as much as I thought it would. I think it was the shock and it probably is, but I don't think I would consider it as a bad one." Zach smiled, glancing over his shoulder.
Elis puts her head on his shoulder, playing with her feet, thinking about something. "That was a life before I was a writer."
Zach was quiet, observing Elis. He held his hands out, gently pulled the strands of hair that fell into her eyes.
"The life before Colton paired with Lily." Zach continued for Elis.
"The life where we didn't know each other existed, yet we yearn for it." She shut her eyes, eyebrows falling when she opened them again.
