CHAPTER 5: The Way You Smile

WRITTEN BY: YaoiGodd

Wyatt Kingston

Jay's birthday is in two weeks and I completely forgot about it. I felt so terribly bad about the situation that I didn't move from my bed until I heard the alarm clock go off from my phone. I groaned from the noise and instantly pressed the stop button. I was so tired that I almost went back to sleep from just staying still on my bed. Gosh, today was going to be filled with stress. Sighing, I wiped my nose against my pillow, and groaned once I realized some snot had made it onto my pillow. Yep, today was surly going to be stressful. I grabbed the pillow and removed it from the pillow case, setting it on the side while I got dressed. Today I thought to wear something that reminded me of Jay. I felt like a terrible friend to him for almost forgetting his birthday, but I promise to buy him a present this afternoon and I'll even be going to his house tomorrow after school. I think that makes up for my forgetfulness.

Still thinking about Jay, I went into my closet and picked out an outfit that the older boy would usually wear. The shirt was a thin, long-sleeve, and similar to the one I wore yesterday, the middle was red, while the sleeves were grey. I pulled up my black joggers, put on a pair of black crew socks, and put on a pair of black tennis shoes. I even put gel in my hair and made it go off to the side.

After a long huff, I grabbed my backpack as well as the shot-filled pillow case and headed downstairs, noticing that I was actually behind schedule. Guess I took longer to do my hair today than I normally do. Oh well, I guess I'll just grab something quick to eat for Amanda and I. I popped the pillowcase into the washer and went into the kitchen.

Ignoring my mother's warm "Good morning," and grabbing two waffles just as they came out of the toaster, burning parts of my hands as I juggled them across the room. I spotted Amanda coming through the door and pushed her out just as she was coming in, earning several complaints, and calling out to my mom, "Bye. I love you," before officially starting my trek to school.

"Don't ever try that again, Wyatt, I'll bite your head off!" Amanda scolded before grabbing one of the waffles and taking a big chunk out of the bread product.

"Dang, Amanda, I'm sorry," I looked away shyly.

"You better fucking be," she commented before she went silent.

And I didn't say a word.

It seemed like moments passed before I finally uttered a sentence, "You sounded so much like him just then."

"I know, sorry Wyatt, I know cussing makes you think about him." Now it was Amanda's turn to look away shyly.

"You did sound exactly like him."

I looked down at the ground, thinking back to last year...

"What the fuck!? Why the hell do we always have this stupid shit for lunch every single-fucking day!!!? I'm so sick of it! Stupid ass chicken sandwiches!"

"Gosh, you're really upset," I comment on his choice of words. "I know you're not really mad about the food, you're upset because of what that girl said to you this morning," I said, now circling my plastic fork in an accusing manner.

"Damn right I am! The bitch should have stayed in her place," He huffed, crossing his arms.

"But did you really need to push her down the stairs?" I asked.

"The bitch walked right by me, talking and shit to this girl that was walking besides her, and then her ass whispered some shit to her friend, and so I felt offended, so it was in my best nature to push that bitch down the stairs for talking some shit about my fine ass," He ended with a smug face.

That caused me to laugh. "You're gonna get suspended, you know?"

"Not if she doesn't tell. Far as I know, the damn thot has a broken neck and if she had told, then I would have been called to the principal's office."

"I guess you're right," I shrugged. "But just try to stay out of trouble."

"Whatever."
