you sobbed at your dead father's side. he was gone, and you couldn't fight anymore. he was your everything. in the midst of the crazy war zone with stormtroopers and rebels firing shots everywhere, the only thing you could feel was pain and anger. wherever the bullet that killed him came from, you were sure the shooter wouldn't live to see another day. 

you hear feet pounding towards you. you turn to see Cassian Andor, the rebel fighter and good friend of yours who came on the mission with you. you probably looked like hell, with your hair messy and your tears mixing with the heavy rain that fell. Cassian held you for comfort. "where were you?' you asked. "helping Baze. what's..." he paused, seeing the lifeless body you held in your arms. "oh god, (y/n) i'm sorry". he seemed like he wanted to say more, but before he could, you wiped your face and stood up. "let's go" you say sternly.

the flight back was silent. you sat huddled in the corner of the ship. Baze was holding Chirrut in his arms, sleeping, while K-2SO was flying with Bodhi in the front. Casein stood across from you staring. 

when you finally got back to the rebel base, Cassian pulled you aside. "(y/n), i need to tell you something." he sounded deathly serious, so you just nodded and stared at his warm brown eyes.

 "i know who shot your father". 

"who?" you shouted, a sudden wave of anger rolling over you.

"me"

you stayed silent, so he continued.

"i couldn't see. the rain was blocking my view. i saw some man fighting with a stormtrooper. i swear i meant to aim at the soldier, but my gun was wet and slipped. i'm sorry (y/n). i know ow much he meant to you."

tears rolled down your face. you sobbed quietly. Casein pulled you into his arms and held you tight against his chest. finally, you looked up. then he kissed you.

it was warm and soft, partly salty with the tears, but neither of you minded. after a few minutes you both pulled away. he brushed a loose strand of hair out of your face.

"now let's get you cleaned up"
