Written in the stars

Your and Cassians love had always seemed to be put together by the force.

When you were young, you were always told stories of how once you had met your soulmate that they would always love you, and while that was true they may not always be able to stay with you.

Not long after Jyn Erso had wound up on yavin 4, had you stumbled upon cassian stuffing almost every blaster he owned into a bag and practically running out the door. There wasn't even a chance of a goodbye.

Shortly after your brief encounter you'd heard whispers all around the base that he and a few other resistance fighters had taken up jyns offer on a mission to scarif.
The thought sicked you to the core,
Scarif was a sure fire suicide mission.
The feeling of pure dread clouding up your senses.

There there was no way you could just leave them to do that alone. Quickly you made your way the hanger and almost threw yourself into your x-wing.
Maybe you weren't the most skilled pilot in the resistance but that didn't matter right now. You just needed to know he was safe.
Praying to the force that he would be okay.

A million miles away

You navigated your way out of yavin and was now in hyper speed setting straight for scarif.

Worry seemed to be twisting and locking itself onto your heart twisting and ripping it apart, all but slowly eating you alive. Tearing you down piece by piece.

That feeling became more prominent as you dropped form hyper space into scarf's atmosphere.
Weaving and dodging your way past enemy fire you edged closer as closer to  the planets outer field, silently praying once more that he was alive.

Then you saw it, as clear as day. The white light cascading its way across the surface of scarif. You knew that could only mean one thing and that was he would never come home.

A message to the main

Shaking sobs wracked your body, your knuckles turning white from gripping the sides of the control panels so tightly.

There it was again a feeling of sadness weaving its way up to plant itself front and centre in your memory. Nothing would ever compare to that feeling.

You say there for a while, slowly thinking up ways that this situation could have been different, but none struck you a plausible.
Your thoughts were suddenly interrupted by a soft beeping that came for you controls.

You looked up to see a message displayed on your screen. They had sent the plans to every available ship, they had done it.
They had all single handedly save the future of the galaxy.
But a what cost.

Seasons come and go
But I will never change

The days following, were some of the hardest days of my life.
People coming up to me telling me cass was a brave man. While I knew they had all meant it, the feeling of loneliness still clung to me. Still latching on as prominent as that day.

But I had to be strong but that's the hardest thing to do when the person you love is ripped from within your grasp.
