There Was A Girl...

There was a girl,
Living in a cruel world,
Where she couldn't do what she wanted,
Couldn't be who she wanted to be,
Where what she needed
Was ignored,
And instead of what was best for her,
All she was supplied,
Were restrictions.
Rules, guidelines.

"You will do what I say
If you don't, I can ruin you"
And day by day,
She became enslaved
In these hated rules,
In these horrid requirements.
She stared towards the light of freedom,
But was held back by chains.

So she struggles,
And her struggle remains.
She tries to break free,
To be more than than the rules,
And one day, I believe.
She will succeed.
