Destiny’s POV

I woke up the next morning to loud yelling from the front of the house. I quickly jumped out of bed and ran down the hall to the kitchen. As I approached the door I automatically recognized Chres’s voice. I heard him mention my name but the rest was muffled out by Victoria’s voice. I opened the door and saw Victoria and Chres glaring at each other in the middle of the room. As soon as I opened the door they both turned to me and went quiet. Victoria looked at Chres one last time and left the room, pushing past me on the way out. I turned back to Chres and he looked like he was about to kill someone. I started to walk towards him cautiously.

“Chres... Are you OK?” He turned away from me and put his hands on the wall, hanging his head down. His back tensed up and I could tell by his heavy breathing he was trying to calm down. I reached out to touch him but he grabbed my hand and put it down.

“Don’t.” I pulled back and watched him as he walked out of the room, heading to the garage. I wanted to follow him but I didn’t know how he would react. I finally left the room and ran into Ms. August.

“Good Morning Destiny.” She gave me a heart warming smile that I couldn’t help but return.

“Morning. Do you know what’s going on with Victoria and Chres? They were arguing earlier.” I was hoping she had some sort of clue but she shook her head.

“No I don’t. I just got back from the store a moment ago. It’s probably nothing big. They argued all of the time as kids.” She seemed pretty calm about it and I mentally relaxed. Maybe she was right. “I was about to cook breakfast if you wanted anything.”

“No thank you. I think I’ll go check on Chres.” She nodded her head and I walked down the hall to the garage door. I listened at the door and heard a loud squeaking sound along with loud bangs and grunts. I hesitantly reached for the doorknob and opened the door. I looked in and Chres was in the middle of the room, hitting a punching bag with his shirt off. He finally stopped and leaned against the bag, trying to catch his breath. He didn’t even notice my presence in the room. I slowly walked up to him and touched his shoulder, causing him to jump in surprise. He quickly turned to me and met my gaze.

“I didn’t hear you come in.” He started to take of his gloves and I watched him as he threw them across the room onto the table.

“I wanted to see if you were OK?” He grabbed a water from a small fridge and downed half of it the whole time never breaking eye contact. He shrugged his shoulders and grabbed a shirt, pulling it on.

“Yeah. Why?” I was starting to get a little agitated. I knew he was hiding something from me and I wanted to know what it was.

“You just seemed mad earlier.” Chres walked up to me and gave me a small peck on the lips. He pulled away and gave me a smirk.

“I’m fine. It’s nothing you need to worry about.” He gave me a kiss on the head and left, heading to our room. I stared after him and finally followed. Chres was in the bathroom and I walked over, standing in the doorway. He looked up from the sink and turned to me.

“Yes?” Now it was my time to hold in my anger. I don’t know what’s going on with him but this sarcastic mood is really pissing me off. I turned around and closed the door so his mom and sister didn’t hear us.

“I do think I need to worry about it considering it involves me.” I folded my arms and leaned against the door. Chres let out a sigh and rolled his eyes.

“Are you still on this?” I threw my hands up in frustration and walked up to him.

“Yes I’m still on this Chres. I heard you say my name so I know it involves me. If it affects me in anyway its my business too. If you were in my situation, I know for a fact you would make me tell you the truth. So why can’t you tell me?” Chres turned away from me and leaned on the counter. I could tell he was frustrated with me but I was frustrated with him. “Chres!”
