It’s been a month. A whole month since Destiny said goodbye to me. A whole month since she said she didn’t want to be with me and gave me my ring back. A month full of agony and misery. I still couldn’t believe she wasn’t coming back. The only way I could keep up with her is to beg Bre for information and most of the time the answer was “She’s fine” or “She’s doing better”. I didn’t know what to do anymore.

Everyone was trying to cheer me up and get me to move on but I couldn’t. The idea of being with someone else made me sick. I only wanted Destiny and no one else. Half the time I stayed in the house moping around. Then my friends would drag me out somewhere. Like today they made me come to some kind of fight party. I sat in the back of the room on the sofa and slowly drank from my beer bottle while everyone jumped and yelled at the T.V. I drained the rest of the bottle and walked to the kitchen, looking for something stronger. I couldn’t find anything so just grabbed another beer. I sat back down on the sofa and zoned out, thinking about Destiny. A moment later a notice Bre heading in my direction. She came and stood in front of me, wearing a worried expression.

“Can I talk to you Chres? It’s really important.” She was biting her lip nervously and I finally got up and followed her to a room in the back. She turned to close the door behind us and she turned back to me.

“What did you want to talk about.” I shrugged my shoulders and drank from my beer. Why not get drunk? I have nothing else to do.

“Chres I need you to really listen to what I’m about to say to you.” I motioned for her to continue and she let out a sigh. “You have to talk to Destiny. She really needs you Chres.” I let out a sigh and rolled my eyes.

“We have been over this Bre. She doesn’t want me back. If that’s all you had to say then I guess we’re done here.” I walked towards the door and she pushed me back. I stumbled back and looked at her in disbelief.

“Will you just listen to me and stop being an asshole! God what is wrong with you? Snap out if it! You need to talk to Destiny. She is lost and needs your help. You can mope around all you want but she’s the one really going through something.” She got in my face and I could tell she was holding back hitting me. I’ve never seen Bre act like this. I only knew her as the nice, fun loving person she usually was.

“What are you talking about?” She let out a sigh and turned away from me. I could tell she was trying to control her anger but she didn’t succeed.

“She fucking pregnant! With your baby Chres.” She yelled at me. All of the color drained from my face and I dropped my beer. I heard the bottle crash to the floor but I didn’t care. Destiny was pregnant? With my baby? All of the signs came rushing to me. Her pick up in appetite, when she put her hand on her stomach when we talked. How did I not notice it? I quickly ran past Bre and out of the room while pulling my phone out of my pocket. I was heading for the door when Ray stopped me at the last minute.

“Hey where are you going? You’re missing everything.” I shook my head and started dialing Destiny’s number.

“I have to leave. I need to talk to Destiny about something important. I’ll see you guys later.” I pushed past him and ran to my car, jumping in it and turning it on. I quickly backed out of the driveway and sped down the street.

“Come on pick up.” I dialed Destiny’s number but she ignored my call sending me to voicemail. I started the car and drove towards the nearest hotel. I wasn’t sure where she was staying but I was determined to find her. I dialed her again and again she sent me to voicemail. I tried three hotels with no luck and again called her phone, to my relief she answered.

“What do you want Chres?” She answered her phone and it sounded like she had been crying. I let out a sigh and gripped the wheel harder.

“I need to see you Destiny. We need to talk about some things.” She scoffed in the phone and sniffed.
