I woke up the next morning and was surprised to find the other side of the bed empty. I slowly got out of bed and walked down the hall to the kitchen. As soon as I walked in, Destiny’s voice filled my ears. She was rushing around the kitchen, throwing things around, looking at papers, and talking quickly and efficiently into her cell phone.

“Yes. Yes sir, I know. I’m looking at it right now and he said he agreed.....He changed his mind?...Well we have a back up one.” She started shifting through the stack of papers in the table and finally found the one she was looking for. “Yes. I’ll bring it in with me. OK. Bye.” Destiny started grabbing the papers and shoving them into her folders. She finally looked up and gave me a quick smile.

“Hey babe. Your breakfast is in the microwave, the maintenance man is coming to fix the bedroom door, and I may be late coming home. So don’t wait up for me if you get tired. I’ll see you later. Bye!” She downed the rest of her coffee and gave me a quick kiss before dashing out of the front door.

“Love you too.” I let out a sigh and headed back to our room, jumping in the shower. Me and Bre were trying again today to find a ring for Destiny and I was determined to find the perfect one. I threw on my clothes before getting in the car and heading to Brandon’s. I pulled up and Bre was already outside waiting for me. She quickly jumped in the car and handed me a piece of paper.

“What’s this?” I grabbed the sheet and looked it over, seeing numerous addresses written down on it.

“It’s all the famous jewelry stores here in L.A. I figured we should go to the best ones to find the perfect ring. I still can’t believe you are going to propose. I always figured you guys would date for forever and wouldn’t get married until later. Oh, I’m so excited!” She was practically jumping in her seat and I couldn’t help but laugh. I started the car and drove off, heading for the first store.

“Oh my gosh. It’s perfect Chres. She is going to love it.” I held up the solitary, princess cut ring I had just found. It’s was perfect for Destiny and was exactly what I pictured getting for her. Bre smiled and dragged me to the closest worker so I could buy it.

“Hello, I would like to purchase this ring.” The female turned around and gave both of us a once over before grabbing the forms. She handed me a pen and began asking questions in a not so excited tone. I just filled out the form as quickly as possible.

“So when are you going to ask her? What’s the plan?” Bre asked. I signed the last paper and returned to the lady. I leaned against the counter and shrugged my shoulders.

“I don’t know. I want to do it soon though. She is going to be busy with work and I think this will help her relax a little.” I heard a laugh from behind me and I turned to see the same sales woman, standing there with a smirk.

“Are you kidding me? Make her relax? Planning a wedding is not easy. If anything she will be so stressed she’ll call it off. I don’t think you thought this through. Here is your receipt.” The woman handed me the receipt but I was frozen in my spot. Bre snatched the paper from her hand and grabbed my arm pulling me towards the door.

“Don’t listen to her Chres. Everything will be fine.” I just nodded my head and got into the car. The ride to Brandon’s was silent, neither of us saying a word. I wasn’t sure what to think or say. I mean, Destiny was already stressed with work. Was a wedding the best thing right now? Was she going to say no to me? I pulled up to Brandon’s house and put the car in park. Bre sat there for a minute looking at me. A couple of times she opened her mouth to speak but eventually gave up and got out of the car heading inside. What am I going to do?
