Swimming

"Hey, May, aren't you going swimming?"

May looked up from her shoes to see her best friend-slash-crush talking to her. "Oh, I think I'll pass."

Drew's face dropped slightly. "No? But it's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity you know, to swim with your classmates."

That's the point. I can't swim--not at all. Plus, she didn't bring a swimsuit, well, she had her PE shorts and her jersey as well but...

Anyway, she looked up to tell Drew she changed his mind but found Dawn instead, wearing a long sleeve swimsuit and shorts, her hair in a ponytail (yet despite that, she still looked like a model). "Huh? Aren't you going swimming, May?"

"Ahaha, I changed my mind, I'm going to swim." May laughed lightly, rubbing the back of her head. "I can swim with a jersey right? Besides, the material's kinda... Swimsuit-like?"

"Pfftt.." Dawn snorted. "Of course. Go on, change your attire. I'll wait."

Saying that, she shoved May towards the bathroom to change as soon as she collected her clothes.

"Okay, now what?" May asked, her eyebrows furrowed as she tried to stand up at the tip of her toes (though the pool water still sloshed in her mouth sometimes and it tasted horrible). "I can't swim and the water is so cold."

"Hnn.. I'll try jumping in the water, you want to try, too?" Dawn suggested, her eyebrows raised.

May shrugged. "I guess, sure."

The two girls walked up the stairs in the pool and Drew passed by.

"Oh Drew, hi--" May was cut off with Drew's smirking face.

"Think fast, Maple!" He then pushed her lightly, but May lost her footing and she fell to the water.

OH MY GOD! I AM GOING TO-- her fearful thoughts stopped as she realized she could stand up without any problems. "Oh." She muttered to herself then realized she was underwater.

Before she could stand up further, she heard a big splash and she took a deep breath as soon as she was not underwater anymore.

"I can stand up by myself!" She argued, then her face turned red as she realized that it wasn't Dawn who saved her.

That, and his hands were on her waist. Well, not that it was uncomfortable since she was wearing a jersey.

"I-I can.." Her words failed her as Drew dropped her deeper to the water and took her hand instead, though one of his hands was still on her waist (well basically, she is floating in the water with the help of Drew).

May's heart dropped and she gripped his wrist tighter, as if it was her reflex and completely forgot that she could still stand up.

"Don't worry." Drew muttered. "I won't let you fall, you know."

You already did. You let me fall for you. May thought in her head, then almost gagged at how cheesy that sounded.

"OH MY GOD! DREW AND MAY!!!" Someone shouted and Drew's face twisted, his eyebrow twitching.

The whole class then started screaming and forming hearts with their hands then Drew threw out flustered curse words.

"Hey, I'm really sorry about that, May." Drew said with an apologetic smile on his face.

"Oh--uh No problem. It's fine, Drew." May waved it off.

He said sorry again and Dawn came back from god-knows-where.

Then Dawn started shaking May violently. "OH MY GOD! I SHIP IT!"
