Into The Past

Just finished watching the latest episode of Kamisama Hajimemashita season 2 so this inspired me to write!! Enjoy!

"This is...?" May cocked her head in question.
"Geez, it's a tradition, May." Drew rolled his eyes at his.. Friend's stupidity. (Lol Drew, you were being hesitant :p)
"Oh, it has my name on it!" May cheered. "Race you!"
"Wait!" Drew tried to stop her but failed. "May.."
Drew just shrugged it off and went to the gate with his name plaqued above it.
10 minutes later..
Drew checked his imaginary watch for the fourth time. May was late, no surprise there.
But he was getting worried.
"Come on, Drew, save her like you're a knight!" His evil sub-conscious told him.
"For once, I agree with the devil." Angel sub-conscious agreed.
"Angel-sama!!" Evil sub-conscious sobbed.
"It's taboo to walk in casually others' gates, you know?"
"Purple guy!"
Harley rolled his eyes.
"Please, I'm not the antagonist of Five Nights At Freddy's."
"Well, who cares?" Drew shrugged and walked in.
Harley followed him but Drew just kept on walking.
"Papa! Papa!" Little May ran forward.
And past Drew.
"May, princess!" His dad smiled happily. "Here. Back from preschool?"
May took the chocolate from her dad and smiled widely. "Yup!"
"I bought this while at the pachinko parlor." His dad said to her.
May smiled and said her thank you to him and skipped to her house, which was near where her dad stood.
"Hello, May." Harley said, stepping out of the shadows. That made Drew facepalm.
"Kidnapper!" May screamed, pointing an accussing finger at him and kicked him in his knees, which hurt, surprisingly.
"She's cute, isn't she?" Harley commented, holding his knee..
Drew stayed quiet and continued to look at her, his eyes glued to the past May. She was cute, he'd admit, but only to himself. Harley was probably going to run a long speech about his comment if he told him.
"Mama, I'm--" May stopped mid-sentence when she saw a bunch of people huddling at their apartment door.
"Your two months late for rent!" Their landlady told her, almost screaming.
"Pay back everything you owe!" A man screamed.
"I just saw your husband lining up at the pachinko parlor a while ago!" Another man said.
"I-I'm truly sorry! Surely, this Monday, I'll make my husband pay for it!" She bowed in sincerity.
"How?!" Their landlady asked. "You don't even have a permanent job! Let alone pay millions of debts."
May's chocolate started melting.
Finally, they left her.
"Mama, I-I'm home." May stammered, the chocolate completely melted.
"May." Her mother hugged her lovingly. "Don't depend too much on men, okay?"
"Yes, mama!" May nodded in approval.
Her mother hugged her.
"I won't be here forever, May, so promise me, May, that you'll smile for me."
Confused, May simply nodded.
"That woman.." Drew began, his green eyes flaring. "She's sick."
"With what?" Harley asked.
"I don't know precisely.." Drew admitted. "But she was separated from her by death."
A few moments after, a fire started and it took away her mother's life who was diagnosed with leukimia.
May and her father cried a lot at her funeral but May managed to smile sometimes.

It skipped to when May was in grade school.
"Shouldn't we go?" Harley frowned at the guy, he was getting bored of Drew's excuses of staying. Even if it was so obvious.
"Not yet." Drew snapped.
"I want Santa to give me a new doll house for Christmas." Colleen announced, the snow was falling but it didn't bother Drew. (Because he's Elsa!!!1!11)
"Me, I want a bicycle for Christmas." Her friend, Grace added and turned to May. "What do you want Santa to give you, May?"
May held up a key.
"I'm going to lock all rooms so he can't get in. That way, he can't kidnap me. I suggest you should, too." May said.
Drew chuckled at her remark, May was absolutely weird.
The girls, however, gave her a disgusted look.
"Santa comes through the chimney, weirdo!" Colleen yelled and left her.
May frowned. Not her fault some fat guy could trespass and break in their tiny apartment.
The girls walked away from her.
Harley once again, stepped out.
"Do you remember me, May?" Harkey asked.
May furrowed her eyebrows and angrily announced. "Kidnapper!"
"I knew you would say that." Harley mumbled, faking hurt.
"May." Drew finally appeared, flicking his hair coolly. "Hello."
May's eyes widened, blushing. The first thing that entered her mind was good-looking.
And was he damn good-looking.
"Let's run away from the kidnapper!" Drew smirked at Harley, knowing she was going to trust her.
"Okay!" May agreed as Drew picked her up.
"A market?" Drew asked as he put her down, completely exhausted.
"Yup!" May said.
Some parts of the market were extremely detailed, and one of those was the ice cream shop.
"You want ice cream?" Drew asked.
May blushed. "N-no!"
"Aww, you do." Drew pat her head, she was so adorable. Who isn't adorable when they are 6?
May happilly devoured the mango ice cream he bought for her.
Groowl.
May looked down at her stomach.
"You're hungry." Drew concluded and took her to a restaurant.
A mother was helping her daughter eat, May watched sadly and it reminded her of her mother.
They ended up at the beach.
The sun was setting, and the scenery was completely marvelous. The sky was painted pink and purple and a tint of red, the sun setting across the horizon.
"I don't want to go home yet. No one is ever home."
"One day, May, you'll be a lady of a rowdy place." Drew said.
"D-does that mean May gets married?" May asked, horrified.
"Uh.. No, I mean--"
"May won't depend on men! She's gonna stay single and stay independent!"
"If I asked you to marry me, would you?" Drew asked then covered his mouth. He just wasted his saliva for something unimportant!
May blushed. "I don't even know if you love May!"
Drew crouched at her.
"I do, love you." He said. Seriously, what the hell?! He doesn't--
"Then.. I would." May said.
May went home after that and they went back to the real world.

"I don't really remember anything!" May cried, frustrated. "Nah, it probably wasn't important, anyway."
Drew sulked. She didn't remember.
He was half-relieved.
Yet half-devastated.
