She was sitting on the bed on her phone. She looked up at me.
"So what do you wanna do today?" she asked
"I have no idea Ashley" I sighed.
She looked at me with sad eyes and got up and hugged me, sighing deeply.
I had ran to her house the night before, crying because my ex had sent me more nasty text messages. They were cruel and some were even threatening.
"I want to help babygirl but you have to let me in. I keep knocking but no one is home" she sighed
"It's not that I don't want to Ashley, I'm afraid to" I admitted
"Damn right you should be scared of me" she quoted
"Who is in control?" I sang
"Haha, me!" laughed Ashley
"Noooo neverrr" I said, walking out of the room with her on my heels
"Oh my god yes you are shush" she grabbed my waist and lifted me off the ground and spun me around. I was flying and it was beautiful.
She put me down on my 2 feet again and looked me straight in the face.
"y/n?"
"Yeah?"
She came closer to me and looked me straight in the face, our noses touching.
"Do you want to go and get food?" she said really seriously
"Ughh" I said pulling away "I thought you were gonna tell me something freaking serious"
"The topic of food is serious!!!"
"Not that serious!!" I laughed
She laughed with me.
"No seriously"
"As if it wasn't serious enough last time" I rolled my eyes
"Do you wanna go out....FOR FOOD I mean like..." she blushed slightly
"Sure Ashley,why not" I said, pretending I didn't notice her little blunder.
She grabbed a jacket and money and opened the door and I followed her.

After spending 20 minutes walking aimlessly around the city, we decided to just go and get hot dogs and sit down in Central Park.
I lay on my back in the grass and stared up at the clouds. There was a light, airy breeze in the air, so the clouds moved at a slow pace.
"Oh Ashley look at that one!" I pointed
She lay down beside me and stared up at the sky.
"Ohh it looks like mountains!!"
"It's the Badlands up in the sky" I laughed
"Oh my god that's brilliant!"
"And there's probably an old man sitting on a throne and he's saying" I started to sing
"That I probably shouldn't be so mean!!" Ashley sang along with me
We stayed there watching the clouds and singing until sundown. It was just Ashley and I and for once, I felt safe.
I always feel safe in Ashley's arms.
"Hey Ashley?"
"Yeah?"
"Thank you"
"For what?"
"Keeping me safe"
"It's what friends are for right?"
Friends I thought. If only we were more.
