{Lab partners}
When Mr. Joseph said that whoever you sat beside at the start of the year in Science class was your partner for the rest of the year, no matter what, he really and truly wasn't prepared for the duo of Ashley Frangipane and Lauren Jauregui.
On the first day (of Christmas), Ashley was on her own. Her friends, Charli and Melanie, obviously didn't pick Science this year and she ended up in the class by herself. Upon entering the room, she had groaned loudly, earning chuckles and giggles from her classmates and a cold stare from her new teacher.
"Sorry I'm late man, I was in the toilet" she said as she walked in the room.
"Miss Frangipane, I highly doubt you were physically in the toilet" Mr Joseph told her "Look, go sit with Lauren"
Matty Healy entered the room behind Ashley with a cheer "Wow look at this lab! Fuck me" he said looking around the room.
"Mr Healy, please stop swearing. Now, go sit with George"
Matty smirked at George, his best friend (and, according to Ashley, secret lover) and ran to his seat.
"Hey Jauregui" Ashley said, sitting beside Lauren. She didn't know the girl very well, she only knew her from choir.
"Hey Frangipane"
"Right class!" Mr Joseph clapped his hands together "Hope you like who you're sitting with, cause you're stuck with them for the year"
Some of the class groaned, some cheered. Ashley was fine with Lauren, it could've been worse, she could've been with that Swedish kid, Peder, who kept winking at her and whispering dirty things in Swedish in her ear.
She turned to Lauren "Guess we're lab partners then"
Lauren gave a small smile "Guess so"
"Right guys, grab a lab coat, grab a beaker, grab a Bunsen burner; we're going to do-"
"Cook meth!!" Matty shouted, causing everyone to laugh.
"In your dreams Mr Healy in your dreams" Mr Joseph said dryly.
Soon, we had a bunch of equipment on the table. I just looked at Lauren.
"So um..." I picked up a test tube "What are we doing?"
Lauren shrugged "I tuned out after Matty said about cooking meth. So I think we're doing that"
Ashley snorted, laughing, and poured water into a beaker "I think you add that" she pointed to the iodine.
"Right" Lauren poured half the bottle of the iodine into the water.
Lauren picked up a clear liquid "Is this..." she sniffed it "alcohol?"
Ashley had a sniff "I've never had alcohol and water doesn't smell so probably?? Maybe it's vodka"
