We'd been home for about two hours now and were heading out on holiday tomorrow morning. I had gotten the all clear from the doctors so there was no cancelling our holiday down to Australia to see my parents and family.
I stand in Odette's walk-in wardrobe packing her clothes when I hear her laughing in the hall. I smile and continue to pack her clothes into her personalised Louis Vuitton suitcase. I close the suitcase over and carry it out into the hall.
I put it down outside her room and walke along to the master bedroom to get our suitcases out and ready to go.
I had just finished putting all of the passports into my Louis Vuitton carry-on bag when a sea of dizziness came over me. I sat down on the bed and wait for it to fade.
“I'll be back down, just go into the garden and I'll be down once I've changed.” I heard Joe say as he came into the bedroom. “They are all...Mia, what's wrong?”
Joe came rushing over and sat down next to me. I felt him lay his hand on my back and I look up at him. “I'm fine. I just felt a little dizzy, that's all.”
“Mia, you don't look fine. You've went pale."
“I'm okay,” I assure, standing up. I pick my bag up and look down at Joe. “Don't make this hard for me.”
“I'm not, you're just over-doing it.” He states, standing up in front of me.
“I'm not over-doing anything.” I turn and start to walk away from him.
I walk only a few steps when I suddenly loose my balance. I feel Joe's arms round my waist and pull me up right. I rest back against him and he holds me close.
“You've over-done it,” he mutters.
“Fine...” I sigh, giving in.
“Bed! Come on,” he instructs, guiding me back to the bed.
He takes the bag out my hand and helps me get into bed.
I lay down and look at him. “Thank you.”
“You're my wife and I love you.” He smiles, kissing my forehead. “I'll come back after I've spent time with the children to see how you are.”
He stands up and walks out the room before I look out the window and slowly close my eyes.
Joe's POV
I close the bedroom doors over as there was a loud knock on the front door. That's weird. No one knocks on our front door unless we've authorised it.
“I'll get it!” Odette shouts.
I watch her open the door as I walk along the hall and down the stairs.
“No because my mum and dad don't know you,” she sys as I reach the bottom of the stairs.
“Who is it?” I ask her, walking over to the door to stand behind her.
I hold onto the door and look at the person who was standing at the other side.
“Joseph! Long time no see!” The man smiles, holding his hand out for me to shake.
“I'm sorry but who are you?” I ask, looking at the man.
“Maybe I shouldn't say this in front of your daughter but you should remember me. Maybe not as it's been about ten years since you last saw me.” He states.
I look at him in confusion then down to Odette. “Darling, go and play with your brothers out the back.”
“But dad...” She starts, looking up at me.
