Odette's POV

I pick up the DVDs and carry them into the cinema room with my brothers. I turn everything on and sit down next to my brothers and watch the footage on each disk.

"What's happening? Is she coming round?" My oldest brother, Chad, asked.

"Just give me a second, Mr Halliwell." The doctor replied calmly.

I felt my hand drop back to the bed and someone move to stand over me. I could see a dark shadow move across my closed eyes but it stopped and waited.

“Why are you just standing there?” My dad's strong voice asked. “Is she or isn't she starting to come round?”

The doctor sighs. “Mr Halliwell, her eyes are flickering and I don't want to touch them if she decides to open them on her own.”

“You got us to agree to take her off of a life-support machine to see if she can breathe on her own. She is doing so and now you are refusing to do your job? Joseph, what did she do?” An authoritative tone came over my dad's voice.

“She tried to squeeze my hand,” Joe replies, his voice sounding further away from me than what he was.

“Mr Halliwell, you have to give her time.”

“Like hell I do.” Movement within the room told me that my dad had moved to stand close to me. “Amelia, honey, it's your dad. If you can hear me, please find all the strength you have within you and open your eyes.”

His voice turned soft and had a hint of begging to it. I have to do this. Don't be a wimp now.

Finding every ounce of strength I had left, focused all of that on trying to open my eyes. Slowly, I felt my eyes begin to open but as soon as they were open, they closed back over as everything seemed far too bright.

----/----/----

Joe's grip on me loosened as he turned and looked at the photographer who shouted that hurtful comment at me.

"What did you say?" Joe asked.

"You heard. I just said that I wished that she had died in that crash," The photographer replied.

I looked at the photographer and tears started to fall from my eyes.

Joe's grip on my faded away completely. "Joe, please don't."

----/----/----

"Information on Mr Wilson's whereabouts is still unsure at this moment in time. However, reports have come in about him going to finish the job he started before he was sent to jail. If you see this man, please report it to your local police station right away. We don't know how dangerous he can be or get,” The female reporter said.

----/----/----

My breath caught in my throat when I saw who it was. Paul Wilson. I started shaking as he tried to open the front door but stopped as soon as headlights began to approach. He looked up to me one last time and ran as the headlights grew brighter and brighter. I sat down on the step and started to cry.

----/----/----

He opened the door and pushed me out onto the landing and looked down at Joe and the police officers.
