Errol jumps back as the arrow whizzes past. He is then quickly pulled to the ground by Halt. More arrows pierce the air right where they were a split second earlier. "Don't move." Hisses Halt. Halt quietly, but quickly, leads Errol through the bush. They are soon met by a steep hill. The brush near them rustles. Halt steps in front of Errol and readies his bow with an arrow.
The plants part to show the face of none other than Gilan. "It's about time you got here." Snaps Halt. "I heard a bit of commotion during my hunt and came to check it out. I didn't think I'd find you here getting shot at." Says Gilan. Halt sighs. "Just take the boy and head to your cabin. I'll take care of whoever shot at us. I'll join you later." Gilan nods and motions for Errol to come with him.
Errol comes and does everything Gilan tells him to do.
Errol follows Gilan through forest, as Halt disappears the way they just came. A line of fire traces its way across his arm as an arrow passes him. He winces and quickly hits the ground pulling Gilan down with him. Again, arrows pierce the air above them. They continue to crawl. Something hits Errol in the side, throwing him on his back. A man appears in front of him, and walks threatenly towards him, sword in hand. Errol scrambles backwards until he is backed up against a rock. "Try this!" A sword falls in the dirt next to him. The man does an overcut at him, clearly planning to split him in half.  Errol quickly grabs the sword and holds it up. The force shoves him back, but the sword holds. The man takes a step back in surprise, then quickly slices horizontally at him. He blocks that too. Gilan watches while fighting another man with his two knives. Errol clearly doesn't know much about swordfighting, but knows enough to keep him alive. The man attacking him unleashes bunch of slices and cuts. Errol manages to block most of them, but a few he misses. Two nip his arm ,which is already bleeding, and his forehead, and one missed him completely anyway. The man feints an overcut, then thrusts at her side. Errol tries to futiley block the overcut and thrust, but fails and the blade rips into his side. Errol collapses, holding his side. The man advances with a grin on his face. Errol tries to move away, but both his side and the rock prevents him from doing that. All he can do is watch helplessly as death approaches.
Gilan disposes of his attackers, then quickly rushes to help Errol. He sees Errol on the ground helpless, blood pouring from his side, with a man raising his sword to finish the job. Gilan swiftly flicks his knife at the man's chest and runs to Errol's side. Errol is already unconscious when he gets there. He quickly bandages Errol's wounds, then picks him up and whistles for Blaze. He carefully mounts, and gallops home.
