Logan was wound up when he got back to the boys. He had stormed out on Rory and his ire had not abated. He had called the boys to come get him from their hotel in Woodbridge. Colin was driving and Finn had taken over the back seat of the SUV.
"Couldn't find her?" Colin asked as Logan climbed in.
"No. I saw her." Logan clipped out.
Finn's head popped between the seats from the back. "What happened, mate? We were barely out of town when you called."
"She's...." Logan trailed off. He still couldn't process the idea. Finn lost interest and sat back.
"What?" Colin asked. "What could possibly have happened in 15 minutes? Was she with someone else?"
Logan let out a rueful laugh. "You could say that."
"Seriously? She had another guy there?" Colin was surprised.
"Not a guy." Logan replied
Finn's head popped back between the seats. "It's a girl?" He asked hopefully.
Logan said "I don't know. It's too soon to tell. Listen guys, this is serious. Rory's pregnant."
Colin immediately pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road. He sat in silence for a moment before turning to Logan. "So you left?"
Logan shrugged. "I honestly didn't know what else to do. She sent me that text saying she loves me, and then I get to her and it turns out that the only reason she did was because she's pregnant. I don't know what to think."
Colin shook his head. "But she does love you, right? That wasn't a lie. I don't understand the problem."
Logan sighed and tried to find the words to express his jumbled thoughts. "It's just ... I thought she had contacted me because she wanted to be with me. That's the thing about Rory that always drew me to her. She just wanted to be with me, not because of who my family is, or my trust fund. She didn't care about those things. Now, she wants me as a father to her child, not because she wants me." He leaned forward and held his head in his hands. Logan was having a hard time catching his breath.
Colin and Finn exchanged a look. They didn't have a response to that.
"So, where to now?" Colin asked.
"Hartford. I need to get back to London. " Logan replied between labored breaths.
"Already? It's Thursday - at least spend the weekend with us. And think this all over." Colin suggested.
"What's the point?" Logan asked. He leaned back in his seat, his face red and his eyes closed.
Finn gasped. "The point? Since when do we need a point?"
Colin restarted the SUV. "The point is, you need time to process. This is a big deal. I know you are angry right now, but give it a few days. You might want to try to talk to Rory about what happens now."
Logan shook his head. "Nothing happens now. She wanted to end it, and she did. This changes nothing." Logan folded his arms over his chest and fell silent. Colin watched as emotion after emotion flicked over his face. He could see that Logan was not ready to really talk yet.
Colin exchanged a look with Finn in the rear view mirror. Finn nodded solemnly.
"Mate, this changes everything. You're going to have a baby. No matter what happens between you and Rory, this is something that you will have to deal with." Colin said quietly. "We are here for you, you know that. But you can't just ignore this. And once you come around, you will realize that you have more to say to her."
Logan stubbornly continued to stare out the window and didn't reply.
Finn grabbed his cell phone and sent a text to Rory.
<We are with him. He's completely freaking out. Will be in touch once he calms down>
He got an immediate response.
<thanks Finn. Take it easy on him. Freaked me out too.>Finn caught Colin's eye again and nodded.
