Rory, Logans and Odette had just completed their lunch and were leaving the deli, with Odette rhapsodizing about the amazing food, when the boys rounded the corner.
"Damn! We missed it." Colin remarked.
"Sort of- here you go." Rory replied, pulling three sandwiches out of her oversized purse.
"You, Ms. Gilmore, are a goddess." Finn gleefully grabbed a sandwich and began unwrapping it.
"It is still Ms. Gilmore, right?" Asked Robert as he gratefully took his sandwich from Rory.
"Yes. And honestly do you think that we would even consider changing that without telling you fools!" Logan laughed.
"One never knows with you two." Robert shrugged. Logan lead the group to the waiting car.
"So- what's next?" Robert asked.
"Back to Connecticut. I need to grab some things in Hartford. Honour needs to be looped in. And then Stars Hollow to talk with Loralie." Logan replied.
"Ok, that's what I figured. The jet is waiting at the airfield." Colin nodded.
The group sat back and chatted aimlessly as they drove to the plane. Once settled in again, Logan pulled out his cell phone and sent a text to Honour to see if she was free. She replied quickly saying she was at home with the kids and he could stop by anytime.
"Ok, so first stop is to see Honour. Ace - if it's ok with you, I'd like to tell her about the baby."
"Of course! I assumed that was why we were going there" Rory replied. "I know she will be thrilled. She has always been very sweet to me."
The boys exchanged looks.
"Right?" Rory asked puzzled by the boys reactions.
"Darling girl, she was quite upset about how you and Logan ended things all those years ago. I'm sure she will be fine once she knows what is happening now, but Honour has changed a lot since college." Finn offered gently.
Rory was shocked. She turned to look at Logan sitting beside her and noticed the wince in his expression. "Honour hates me, doesn't she?" She asked.
"Honour doesn't hate you. She was really upset when things ended. She may have blamed you for a while." Logan soft pedaled.
"God! The one member of your family that actually liked me and I've turned her against me." Rory moaned. She closed her eyes and leaned back dejectedly in her chair.
Finn waltzed over and took the seat across from Rory. "To be honest, I think she was almost as upset as Logan when you declined his proposal. She truly loved you and thought of you as a sister." He elaborated. "But I think once we catch her up, she will be happy for you two."
Logan smiled hopefully, but he knew better than anyone how badly Honour had taken the end of his and Rory's relationship.
"It doesn't matter. She will either come around or not. You are permanently in my life forever now. She will just have to adjust." He was firm in his statement.
"But I truly loved Honour. I still think of her as a sister. She and I had a great relationship on our own. I guess I'm just disappointed that she though so poorly of me after..." Rory
sighed."Well, you may need to buck up. There are going to be people that are going to be less than thrilled about these recent turn of events." Robert advised.
"Sure, by I thought Honour would be in our corner." Rory expressed.
"Mon Cheri- Honour is always in Logan's corner. She is a good person, and so long as Logan is happy, she will support you both."Odette offered from across the tiny aisle.
------
Rory blew out a breath and steeled her spine as they pulled up to Honour and Josh's home in Hartford. She was braced for the worst.
Logan pulled out a key and opened the door, calling out for his sister as he walked into her home.
"Honour! I have a huge surprise for you!" He called.
In the distance, Honour called back with an excited laugh. "Brat! I didn't even know you were back in the country! What's this surprise?" Honour rounded the corner and took in the group before her.
She was not very surprised that Finn, Colin and Robert were with him, but the two women were a complete shock. Odette and Rory were standing together, with Odette supporting Rory, who looked like she was terrified.
"What the ever loving hell is going on?" Honour demanded.
Logan stepped forward and took Honour by both elbows. "This is a good thing. Rory and I have news for you. Odette is happy for us. I need you to put the past away and let me tell you what is going on." He gave Honour a strong look. She immediately bristled and shook her arms free.
"What are you doing here? Haven't you done enough damage? And now, I take it that your back and wreaking havoc in his life again! Dammit Rory!" She shrieked, turning to Rory.
Rory took a deep breath and walked over to Honour, giving Logan a glance that asked him to let her handle it. He kept a close watch, but stayed silent.
"I'm sorry I hurt you so much all those years ago, Honour. I was heartbroken when Logan and I broke up, truly. But it was also horrible that you and I never got a chance to talk. I've missed you terribly. We were so close, and I just disappeared and left you to try to pick up the pieces." Rory said calmly as she approached Honour.
Honour stopped in her tracks, her expression suspicious. "Yes. You destroyed everything and left. Without a word. No responses to my calls or emails. What the hell!" Honour's volume had gone down, but not her temper.
"As much as Logan was hurting, so was I. I was wounded and just ... retreated. I know that was hurtful. I wish I could have seen how stupid and childish I was being. But I was in my own world of hurt. I didn't just cut you out - I disappeared from most of my friends as well. It took months for me to reconnect with anyone, but it was still too painful to reach out to you. I should have known that you would be the one to take the brunt of Logan's unhappiness. But by the time I was able to reach out to others, so much time had passed. I knew that you would be angry. I simply took the cowards way out."
Honour's temper dissipated. "You hurt me, Rory Gilmore."
"I know"
Honour sighed and turned back to Logan. "So this is my surprise?"
"Nope. You're going to be an aunt." Logan replied.
Honour blanched. She swung her gaze back to Rory, who nodded with a smile. Her eyes then flew to Odette who grinning and nodded, flicking her hand dismissively. "Oui. It is joyous news." She had Robert at her side, closely watching Odette and supporting her.
"I'm going to need a drink. And I think I have champagne in the fridge. Come on." Honour turned and headed into the kitchen.
