Rory had just rounded the corner on the Main Street when she saw the distinctive silhouette of Finn Morgan approaching her direction.
"You came to see me!" Rory called. When he looked up, she was startled at the anger obviously rolling off of Finn when he glared in her direction. She immediately stopped in her tracks and waited for Finn to acknowledge her.
"Sorry, love. I was just walking off some steam." Finn plastered a fake smile on his face and approached Rory. He simply pulled her into a huge hug and held on. Rory was puzzled but returned his hug, wondering what had happened.
"Talk to me Finny." Rory asked. "You're upset. What happened?"
Finn pulled back and looked at Rory as if she had lost her mind. "What's wrong? Are you kidding me? Logan Huntzberger is a complete wanker! That's what is wrong!" Finn exclaimed.
"Oh! Ok. Well, lets go over here and you can tell me all about it." Rory soothed Finn and lead him into the bakery. She sat at a table in the back and held up two fingers towards the lady behind the counter. She then settled in to listen to Finn.
Finn was initially distracted by the very feminine decor and the tiny tables with proper tea settings. He looked around bewildered until he finally cracked. "Which level of hell is this?"
Rory smiled as two cups of tea and two scones were brought to the table by a kindly older lady. "Thanks Teresa." She then turned to Finn. "We are at Weston's Bakery. That was Teresa, the new owner. She makes the best scones in the world. And now that I have to limit my caffeine intake, I've also learned to enjoy her decaf teas. Today is white blueberry and it is actually delicious."
Rory stirred her tea and then lifted the cup to blow on the hot surface. She took a small sip, with Finn watching her incredulously. She sat waiting, watching Finn.
"You are barking." He declared and then finally tried the tea in front of him. He tilted his head in surprised appreciation. "Not bad. Needs vodka."
"What's got your kickers in a knot?" Rory fired back.
"Him. Logan. What are you two doing?" Finn whined. "Your having his..."
"Finn!" Rory snapped. She glanced around the nearly empty bakery and gestured towards the only other patrons. A buxom pair, one blonde, one brunette were sitting across the room and were obviously interested in Rory's visitor. Rory waved and turned back to Finn. "Careful. The walls have ears."
Finn huffed and tried again, quietly this time. "What are you two waiting for? You have your ... *kumquat* on the way and you two still haven't gotten it together."
"Kumquat?" Rory laughed.
"Yeah. I was browsing some pregnancy websites and came across one that compares the size of the ... you know... to different fruits." Finn explained.
Rory smiled at the thought of Finn researching pregnancy. "Ok, kumquat. I don't know what to tell you. He has to be ready." She shrugged.
Finn made a raspberry noise and leaned back in his chair. "Ready! What the hell. You two are bloody crazy."
"Finn, its only been a couple of days. He's absorbing this as quickly as he can. I'm not going to wait forever, but he gets a bit of a break here. I've had weeks to get my head on straight." Rory argued.
Finn scowled and shook his head. "I can't believe that you are not pushing this forward. How could you be okay with this?"
Rory squared her shoulders and spoke firmly. "I'm not. When I say I'm not going to wait forever, I mean it. If he doesn't get his act together within a reasonable period of time, I'm going to push back. Finn, he's freaking out. Trust me, I did the same thing when I first realized. But if he's moving forward, and we are getting to where I need us to be, then I'm ok with going at his pace."
"And if he doesn't? What then? Are you really willing to let this all go?" Finn asked
"Hell no!" Rory exclaimed. "If he doesn't get moving forward within a reasonable time, I will push. I will fight for us, and you are going to be my inside man!"
Finn let a slow grin spread across his face. "Thank god! I thought you were giving up! Keep me in the loop from now on."
"No problem. And if you feel comfortable with it, could you also keep me posted on how he's doing?" Rory asked.
"I am at your service, mi'lady" Finn responded.
