---

Things were looking up.

The day after my speech, I had gone to the gymnasium to collect my drafts and everything I had kept backstage.

I called it when I saw Semi bouncing a volleyball on one side of the court.

"Hi," I say, popping inside. Semi's eyes dart towards me, a little smile cracking on his face.

"Hey, Een." He replies. "You have another speech coming up?"

I shake my head, pointing to the stage. "I just need to collect my papers."

He gives me a nod, resuming his serves when I went climbing up the stage. When I collect my belongings and climb off the stage, he is picking up the balls that had flown to the other side of the court.

"Uh, good luck with practice," I add, as a way of saying bye. Semi turns around with two of the balls in hand and raises an eyebrow.

"You're leaving?"

"Um... Should I not leave?"

"Well, you can if you want to, but you can also stick around. If you want to." He puts the balls back into the cart. "I don't mind."

That was the first time I wanted to see his face as he spoke. I wondered what kind of an expression he would be having on his face as he said that.

I feel slightly tingly in my chest as I lean against the stage, and watch him play.

And when I notice the balls inside the cart decreasing in number, I rush to the other side to collect them for him.

"Oh. Don't worry, I'll pick them up so don't force yourself."

"It's fine," I say, "I can even hold three at once."

Semi raises an eyebrow as he throws the ball in his hand, into the cart. I carried the two balls in hand while balancing the third on top of them, careful not to drop them; especially after I said I could carry them.

To my amusement, Semi stood, chuckling as he kept on eyeing me. I feel slightly nervous as I turn around, feeling my face turn hot.

Oh my gosh, that sounded so childish, Een! What even?

"Een?"

When I turn around, I almost drop the two balls in my hand.

"I can carry four." He lets me know, carrying four of them in a well-balanced pose.

He joins me in bursting out laughing, nearly spilling the balls in his hand as he did so.

For once, I didn't have any regrets.

On Wednesday, class 3-2 had a combined Home Economics period with class 3-1.

I wasn't dreading it... Rather, I was nervous, slightly praying that I wouldn't make a fool out of myself like I did during Physical Education a week ago.

"I think you really got your heart out on your sleeve, Een," Aimee says, handing me an apron.

"Aimee, no."
