During breakfast the next morning, Kanzaki hands out the college application forms.

Of course, knowing that Semi wanted to go to the same place I went, that I wasn't the only one feeling that, made me happy.

And yet, when it really thundered out, I had to admit that I was scared.

"What if I get sick on the day of the exam?"

"Een, what the fuck." He hisses, using a spoon to scoop some soup up. "What if I don't pass the entrance exam even if you do? I think these things too, but you can't let that stop you from trying."

Aimee, who sits in front of us, won't stop staring right at us in suspicion, a look that irritates Semi even further.

"What?"

"Well. I guess you guys do wanna talk about college now that you got these papers," She has to say, scooting away a little when Hichimiya and Tendou come up to the table. "But I think what's important at the moment is what you do for Een's birthday."

"I know." He responds, not looking up from his bowl of chicken soup.

"Cuz if you're gonna ditch at the last second and do something else like the asswipe that you are, you better tell us beforehand. We'll keep Een happy on her birthday, even if you won't stop shitting around."

"Aimee. I am aware." For some reason, there is slight anger in his voice as he roughly puts the spoon down on his tray, the utensil making loud clinking noises with the rest of the cutleries on his tray.

"I know that. I'm glad she has friends that care for her. To be honest, she needs it, since I am a jerk. But this time, I'm going to make her happy, and you don't need to remind me." He snaps, shooting a glare to my best friend. "I've learned it the hard way, so stop rubbing it on my face. I'm not going to hurt her this time."

While there is silence not just at our table, but also in the entire cafeteria - since he said it so loudly - Aimee can only blink in shock while Semi takes his barely touched food, dumping the food into the trash and then stepping out of the hall.

When I stand up to follow him, my red-headed friend shakes his head and motions for me to sit down.

"That's a side of Eita-kun even I'm not fond of." Tendou has to say, while he chomps on a spoonful of his cereal. "Give him a while. But really now, Ai-chan, why must you be like this?"

"I was just saying the truth, okay? Een's been my friend for 6 years and Semi has made her cry more times than she did that duration which he made her do in just half a year."

"But Aimee," I say, "I love that you care for me, but he makes me happier than I ever was in the past 6 years, as well. It takes time for relationships to get stronger."

"I'm sorry. I'll apologise to him. Not right now, because he deserves it." The chunk of the burger she has in hand disappears after she speaks. Aimee stands up with her empty tray, walking off while me, Tendou, Hichimiya, and Kanzaki can only just stare back at her.

"The feeling when your best friend and your boyfriend fight when there's only like a day for your birthday."

"Shush, Hiccchan!" I can see Kanzaki attempting to elbow my friend.
