On the eve of my birthday, Semi taught me how to toss.
Well... toss wrongly, not right.
"Why can't you just throw the ball up the way I'm doing it?"
"Because," I say, squinting my eyes at him, "I haven't been playing volleyball since I was in fourth grade, like you were. I don't even remember when I played it last."
Semi had let me know that he wanted to wish me a happy birthday, in person, at the exact second it strikes 12 am. For this, he asked me if I would go out for dinner with him, which had somewhat changed into me watching him and help him practice, instead.
Not that I minded.
"30 more minutes. I'm sorry I'm making you stay up and be outside when you could be on bed, sleeping." He has to say, putting the ball away and sitting down beside me. He leans his back on the court net, and takes a sigh. I shake my head, turning to face him with a smile.
"It's fine. I didn't think you were the romantic type, so I'm shocked you want to do this." I say, laughing. Semi turns his gaze away, his lips pursed as he crosses his arms over his knees.
"Shut up. I told you I'm trying to keep you happy." He says in a low voice. "Do you want to go now?"
"Mm, let's go." I say, standing up. I offer him a hand, to which he glares until I burst out laughing.
"Stop trying to take the lead." He has to say, getting up. "I can do it fine."
He then throws the volleyball at the cart, wiping his hands behind his trousers before he stretches a little.
"Sleepy?"
"A little. But it's fine." He has to say. Semi helps me climb out of the court entrance, and the two of us walk to a diner that was nearby. There were only a couple people who were there, so we managed to get a table with ease.
We did, but we both fell asleep on the table before our food arrived.

"Fuck everything." Semi hisses, the next morning as he sets his tray beside mine.
"Not the best greeting for your girlfriend on her birthday, you tool." Aimee mumbles, throwing a slice of tomato at him. My soulmate raises a hand in defence, throwing it back on top of her sandwich.
For once, Aimee looks shocked for words, while Hichimiya and I laugh uncontrollably.
"Nice toss, Eita-kun!" Tendou has to comment, before getting elbowed by his girlfriend.
"This isn't fair. I stayed up to wish you but you guys wished her before me."
"Not our fault, Eita-kun. You had the chance." Tendou says, sliding a small box towards me. "From me and Hichi-chan."
"I'm telling you. We were both tired, okay? The waitress had to tap my shoulder for me to wake up. And Een is such a heavy-sleeper, I practically had to poke her a lot of times before she woke up." Semi goes on, while I open the present Tendou handed.
Hichimiya and Tendou had given me a box full of white chocolates, which they asked me to 'share' with Semi later on today. I knew exactly what they meant by that, and their tone as they said so was further proof.
