• Semi x Een •
---
When Semi bought me a packet of juice, I started sobbing.
I wasn't sure why, but after having met him, I realised that I had become so emotional and so aware of even the slightest things I was feeling.
A shocked expression is on his face while he looks down at the way I am holding the small packet in my trembling hand.
"Stop doing that." He says after I wipe my face and look away. "You're making me feel bad."
"Eh?"
Semi catches up to me, walking alongside me as we walked back.
"If you react that way," He has to say, "It feels like I'm a horrible person... that you don't even expect me to do something as simple as getting you a drink."
I blink at him with tearful eyes and see a couple creases forming on his forehead.
"I don't want that. I'm trying to make you happy, not the other way around."
"Oh."
"So... Stop crying."
And even though he asked me that, I felt like crying again when he tells me that he would drop me off home.
"You're going to be quite busy after you go home, right?" I ask, in an attempt to change the subject from emotional things. Semi nods in response, stretching his arms a little and letting out a grunt.
"I should have rested more yesterday."
"Maybe you can take a nap before you help out?" I suggest. Before I can respond, Semi moves in front of me, raising a hand before I can figure out what he was doing. Only when I hear the sound of a ball dribbling off after it crashes to his hand, do I realise what happened.
"Dammit, a second late, it would have hit you." He mumbles, shooting a glare to the direction the ball came from. "I still need to improve my receives."
There is a blonde boy running up to us, bowing endlessly as he apologises to us.
"Ah, you don't have to apologise, it's fine!" I cry. Semi is not convinced, he still looks angry when the boy stands up and looks at us with fear in his eyes.
And only then, do I recognise the face.
"Riku?!" My voice echoes. Semi's glare softens a little as he looks at my reaction in surprise. The boy blinks at me a couple times before a big smile spreads on his face.
"AH! Fujiwa- no, Een-san!! It's been a while!" Riku giggles, when I pick up the ball and hand it to him. Semi nudges me a little and points to the bench at the park, and I give him a nod. He walks there before Riku blinks in confusion at me.
"Een-san, is that your soulmate?" He wants to know. I give him a nod, showing the pattern on my wrist. Riku blinks at it, letting a loud sigh as he spun the ball on his finger.
"So lucky! I can't wait to see mine." He has to say, glancing at the plain skin of his left wrist.
"I hope your soulmate ends up being the person you really, really love, Riku," I say. I could have sworn that I saw his face flush, before he turns around, marching back to the park. I can't help giggle as I follow him, and he lets me know that he was out helping a friend who was in the volleyball club. We reach where Semi is sitting, tapping on his smartphone, and Riku turns to face me again.
"Um but, I thought you were studying at Miyagi?"
"We're just here for the weekend," I whisper, not catching Semi's attention. Riku's eyes go wide before he begins stuttering to himself.
"A weekend? The two of you are spending a weekend together? Alone?" He whispers back, and I have to slap his arm to shut him up. Semi's glance darts to us, before he stands up.
"U-Um anyway, can you do me a favour?" Riku asks, and I give him a nod.
"What is it, Riku?"
"Can you tell Fujiw- I mean, Takeru, to stop avoiding me? Please."
Before either of could say a word, Riku gives a little wave and goes back into the courtyard.
"Your brother is avoiding him?"
I can only shrug in response. I had a vague idea of what Takeru may have done, but I still had to hear his side of the story before I could jump to conclusions.
"You're quite similar to Takeru, it's almost irritating," I mumble, walking ahead.
"Huh? What is that supposed to mean?"
The two of us walk back to my house, where Semi promises to 'pick me up' at 7 pm later today. I give him a wave, which he only chuckles in response to before I step inside my house. He had even refused to accept my help when I asked if he needed any pre-party help - Semi was more of a person who would take all the workload and do it himself.
Upon entering my house, I am welcomed by my younger brother lying on the living room floor, a magazine plopped over his face.
"I'm home," I say, taking the magazine off his face and slapping his head with it. Takeru wakes up from his doze, his eyes going wide when he sees me.
"You again?" He asks, standing up and stretching. I kick his leg before placing my shopping bags down, sliding onto the couch to explain to him about why I was here.
"Wait, is the event tonight, because if it isn't then you can't-"
Takeru wasn't able to finish his sentence because the front door opens and in comes two people I completely was not expecting.
Our parents.
"Een? You're home, sweetie!" Mom sings, extending her hands out. I smile and go to hug her, and my dad pats my hair a little.
"Why is your hair so frizzy?" Dad interrupts, taking his hand off from my head. I squint my eyes in irritation and move away before I see that they have duffel bags with them.
"Came from a trip?"
"Yes. It was a successful business trip." Dad responds, taking his shoes off.
"How long are you here for, Een? I'm going to make a hotpot tonight if you-"
"Ah, I came for an event tonight," I explain, "So I won't be eating dinner with you guys."
"Oh? What kind of an event?" Dad seems curious as he slips next to Takeru on the sofa, looking at me expectantly. While I wrecked my mind to think of the proper words to say, Takeru gets the clue and stands up to faces both our parents.
"Een found her soulmate, you guys. He invited her to a wedding."
"Oh?!" Mom has an excited expression on her face as she turns to me, and I let out a gulp.
"He invited you to a wedding?" Dad wants to know. I give him a nod; I had never been used to talk to my parents, so I struggled with the proper words to say. For once, I wished that I hadn't left all the work for Takeru ever since our childhood because it seemed improper for him to say something big like this that I should have said.
"Is he a good person? Is it someone we know? Tell us about him!" Mom pulls me down to one of the chairs, and I begin to sweat again.
"He is. He is a sincerely nice person," I say while Mom glances at my mark.
"Oh! And he's in love with you!" Mom has a smile on her face as she shows dad my mark. Dad peers over to take a look, the two of them exchanging an unsure glance before he glances at me.
"Well, I'm sorry, Een. I hate to burst your bubble, but you can't go to an event with someone we have never met before, even if he is your soulmate."
