• Semi x Een •

---

Semi does not respond to my text when I let him know that I couldn't go to the wedding with him.

And when I try to call him, multiple times, he does not pick up the phone.

After it strikes 4 pm, I give up on contacting him. Knowing Semi, he would probably have left his phone somewhere else, while he was busy with work.

Takeru walks into the kitchen, sitting on the chair in front of me while he watches me dicing vegetables for dinner.

"You know, Mom. It's not fair, what you're doing to Een." Takeru points out. Mom only shrugs, while she rolled up rice balls.

"I know it's not, Takeru. But your dad has always been that way. Me talking to him isn't really going to work, you know that, right sweetie?" Mom has to say, looking at me with a doleful expression on her face.

"But this is about Een." He has to add, a slightly frustrated expression on his face as he slams the table. "She came all the way from Miyagi because Semi-san's mom invited her."

"Takeru, stop. It's okay." I say, tossing a piece of cabbage at him. Mom shakes her head, afraid that Dad would overhear my brother as he grumbled under his breath. Luckily, there is a knock on the door, and Mom sighs in relief.

"Een, make those carrots a little smaller, okay?"

"Yes Mom, I'm on it."

The thought of going on an official event with him had made my heart race, even thought it was embarrassing... I wanted to.

I really, really did.

And at that second, I found myself stabbing the piece of vegetables, venting my disappointment on it instead.

And I would have gone on, if it weren't for the fact that Dad appears at the door...

With a taller figure standing right behind him.

As soon as I catch sight of Semi Eita, my fingers slip, the tip of the knife pressing onto my thumb.

"Ouch," I cry, my eyes still wide when Semi excuses himself and steps inside, running up to me.

"You idiot." He hisses, wiping the blood oozing from my finger with his shirt, then pressing a finger against my thumb. I feel myself panic as I glance at my mom, who is giving a sinister smile at Takeru, then at my Dad.

"I'm sorry, I haven't introduced myself to you yet." He has to say, taking the wad of tissue Takeru hands him. "My name is Semi Eita. I'm Een's soulmate."

For a minute, I can only freeze; here he was, saying the word 'soulmates', something he himself had told me he didn't believe in... Once again, I find myself going teary eyed as I glanced at Dad, who walks and sits beside Takeru at the dining table.

"Semi Eita. Sit there." Dad says, pointing to the chair in front of him. With a hesitant glance at me, he lets go of my hand and does as told, while Mom sidles away and steps beside me.

"A very charming young man you got there, sweetie." She whispers, and I have to elbow her to make her keep quiet.

"You intend to take Een to an event tonight?"

"Yes," Semi says, his voice not shaking as he spoke. I am surprised that he can do that, I can't speak to my own father without worrying ahead of what to say. "I intend to take her with me, and I'm here to ask for your permission, Fujiwara-san."
