"I hate to burst your bubble, but your soulmates could be on the other side of the earth, you know." Tamachi-sensei has to say when she walks into the ruckus known as Class 3-2.
"I am so glad you aren't our homeroom teacher." A voice from the far corner of the room replies, making everyone in the class giggle.
We would have thought that; what with all the soulmate hunting we were doing, we'd find a lot of pairings, but the world doesn't work that way.
"The world is cruel and harsh. Haven't you all read enough angsty books to know this by now?" She asks, later in the lesson. "Two of my best friends were soulmates, and there wasn't anyone in the world that they hated more than each other. They ended up committing suicide."
"D-Don't make it sound so scary..." I mumble, lightly tapping on my opened notebook. I couldn't help sighing. I could only pray that Semi and I didn't end up with that sort of luck.
I didn't have any problems against Semi; he was beautiful, he seemed reputed, and according to Tendou, he takes care of his friends and teams better than anyone else can.
If anything, I was the lucky one for Semi to be my soulmate.
Compared to Semi, I was a nobody. No wonder everyone reacted with utter shock; even I was surprised, myself.
Aw man, I feel like such a disappointment. I groan internally, as I see my reflection from the window.
I hoped that I would match his liking... Or for his sake; I hoped that we would find something slightly different about our marks, and find that we aren't actual soulmates.
The latter makes my lips tremble.

Shiratorizawa Academy held their monthly examinations the following day. Everyone, even the academically-gifted students, seemed a little off-balance as they entered the examination hall.
Japanese, English, Mathematics, Science, and an alternate between Home Economics and Physical Education were a must here.
I dreaded Physical Education the most.
Somehow, my prayers are unheard, when our Sensei announces that we were playing volleyball in the gym today, along with multiple other classes in the grade.
Kill me.
Hichimiya and Tendou were doing some kind of hyperactive dance which was making Aimee, who stood a foot beside me, facepalm multiple times.
"I hope that my soulmate lives very, very far away from Shiratorizawa." She whispers, dragging me away to the other end of the court. Much to my dismay, we are paired with class 3-1, the students of which pours into the gym a few seconds later.
"Give me a B!" Tendou cheers.
Nobody gives him a B.
"Dude, volleyball starts with a V in English, not a B." Someone from class 1 yells. The atmosphere begins to warm up and our gym instructor jogs up to us with a clipboard in hand.
