The TV had become a repeat of adverts and white noise. But my head didn't even notice the difference. I just sat cross legged starring intently at the flickering screen.
3rd night this week he'd stayed late without letting me know and I was sick of him disappearing all the time!
I wrapped the blanket closer towards me as the door bolted open. There was no sweet greeting, even when he saw me there. No acknowledgement just a grunt of disapproval. He sauntered into the kitchen grabbing his drink from the fridge then most likely sloping off to bed. Nothing more.
I joined him 30 minutes later. Chandler's light snores being the only thing reminding me he was still there, you wouldn't know otherwise. Tears rolled down my cheek. There was a time, A better time. When he'd hold me at night and whisper sweet nothings into my ear. He'd tell me jokes to help me sleep and rock me if I had a nightmare. Just like a real baby.
But it changed. He changed. We changed.
I needed to change.
So I left. That very morning.
Packed my bags and watched the sun come up from the driveway. His truck parked next to my car. I turned away.
Scared that if I thought for too long I'd go back. I couldn't go back anymore.
Because I had found love where it wasn't supposed to be.
And I was paying the price.
I drove, further and further away.
Chandler became nothing but a memory to me. I'd only be a ghost to his busy lifestyle.
