The weather outside of Penny and Simon's (and Baz's) apartment was unusually bright, with warm shards of sunlight streaming through the various windows. Their living quarters, when hot and bright outside, became stifling, overstuffed with heat and pent up bodies.
The three sat in various areas around the room, with Penelope hunched over the living room table, surrounded by colourful sticky notes and highlighters, as she vigorously wrote notes and waved her ring around to gather them into neat piles.
Simon sat on the couch, his legs strewn over the side of the arm, his wings curled underneath his almost asleep body. His arm dangled off the side and was the only part of his body trapped in a cage of sunlight, which he welcomed.
Baz was sitting in an armchair not much further from Simon's relaxed form, his hands clasping a well-worn book as his eyes lazily scanned the words. His body was curved comfortably in the oversized chair as he fell through miles and miles of words and lost himself in the imagery of it all. That was until the heat became too forceful on his frame and he took a deep hitching breath of stifling air."Why is this apartment either the fucking desert or Antarctica? We are magicians are we not? Why can't we keep things temperate?" His voice was louder than anticipated, but it had the desired effect, with Simon wrenching upwards in shock and looking around at him through tired eyes. Penelope didn't even flinch, staying wholeheartedly focussed on her research into various magical anomalies.
"It's called air conditioning, and it's expensive and I don't see you forking over the money, Pitch," Penelope said softly but it carried, still looking down at her page.
"That's just brilliant, so we should just stay in perpetual shitty climates?"
"By all means Baz, if you can think of a spell to change the weather without severely disrupting the entire ecosystem, I'd love to hear it," She paused to look up, so he could see her dramatic eye roll.
He sighed heavily, knowing full well she was right and that magicians couldn't disrupt the natural way of the weather, but it still sucked.
"Anyway Baz, aren't you immune to climate? Isn't that a side effect of being undead?" Simon staggered to lie face down with his chin propped on his elbows as he eyed his boyfriend.
Now Baz rolled his eyes, "While I'm naturally cooler to touch, and my skin is cooler than the average person, in no way does that make me immune to 37 degree days."
Simon hummed, his eyes drooping once more as he began to fall back into his slumber until Baz pushed his book shut and clapped his hands harshly.
"Let's get out of here, please."
"Where would we go, Baz?" Penny sighed, pushing her papers away from her and looking up at him expectantly.
"Fucking anywhere, we're magicians."
"Speak for yourself," Simon quipped.
"Shut up Snow," Baz replied, "Let's go find somewhere to swim or something, I want... no, I need to get out of this heat."
There was a pause, and then Penelope began to smile, "I actually have the perfect spot."

"How did you ever find this place, Bunce?" Baz couldn't keep the awe from creeping into his voice.
She smiled slyly, "Everyone needs somewhere to escape."
Baz's mind fluttered back to his mother's tomb in Watford, a spot he had frequented, to think and to be close to his mother; and he smiled, "So they do."
The private moment of understanding between the two went unnoticed by Simon, who was gazing happily around him.
They stood at the bottom of an almost canyon, hidden from eyes which did not know where to look. Not a Normal was in sight as the three stepped closer to the body of water, it's clear and beautiful water winking and shimmering under the beam of the sun, their minds silenced by the cascading waterfall thundering down.
The next hours of the bright bubbling day were spent blissfully ducking between the shade, provided by a large umbrella Baz had conjured up, and underneath the giant waterfall. The secluded nature of Penelope's spot meant no Normals had wandered and intruded into their day. (It could've also been due to the two working magicians strong charms laid around the area so Normals only saw more forest.)
Simon was free to spread out his wings and to free his tails and this, as well as spending time with his two favourite people in the world, made him happier than anything else ever could.

I know that canonically Baz doesn't really like the sun and is weakened by it (is that canon? Or am I stereotyping vampires??? Someone answer me please I can't be bothered to get my book)
Anyway, thank you for reading!!! This was mostly descriptive and not a lot of dialogue, and it was supremely fluffy, but I love fluff. Vote and comment if you liked it (or comment if you didn't, just be nice ahahah)
