Two months had gone by, the weather becoming what was Gotham's summer- a pleasant 70 degrees was the usual high. Selina and Jonathan were enjoying their time together as "way more than just friends" as Selina once described it. She was currently spending her night shifting at Lily's club. Now every time she stepped into the building she remembered that night not long ago when she made the place her own. She couldn't shake something about that night, it was as if she flipped a switch on in her mind. A switch that made her feel alive. She was keeping a dirty secret from the world. Selina had felt so alive as Catwoman -the headlining name wasn't clever but it didn't need to be. It was as if everything and anything was possible in that suit. She made many trips over the days, but it wasn't easy.
She juggled her time between working shifts for Lily (5pm to 11 sharp) which usually followed with spending the night with Jonathan. On top of the new relationship and bar-tending, she started interning at Shrek's company building in the heart of Gotham City. She figured she might as well start having a career, thieving wouldn't last forever. This long-term thinking came from Jonathan, she was watching grow more successful as a Psychologist everyday, ultimately motivating her to do something professional. Not that interning for Shrek is anything close to having a career. But when she did have nighttime to herself she committed it to her passion.
The suit was altered many times and remains a work in progress. She wasn't sure if she would ever be satisfied. Catwoman was the type to do and say whatever she pleased. Catwoman was always up for some trouble, so the suit needed to be prepared for trouble. The claws just wasn't enough. Selina knew a guy downtown who made weapons under the table. While he usually worked for mob bosses he didn't need much convincing. Just a wink and a smile and she was able to seal the deal. The best part: As long as he got his money he never asked any questions. So she was able to create many sets of caltrops that were kept in a pouch that clipped to her belt. These she hid in the back of her closet with the rest of Catwoman. The whip would forever remain her weapon of choice.
Tonight she had something special in mind-not the usual trip Tiffany's then beat-down on an unworthy thug or two. Gotham City Museum had recently put out an ad for a "priceless amazonian diamond", supposedly containing all the colors of the rainbow in daylight. The diamond was said to be the size of quarter and shatterproof, completely and utterly invincible. We'll see about that. Selina finished zipping up her boots when her phone suddenly rang. She checked the caller ID. Jonathan.
"Shit!" She whispered to herself before frantically picking it up, "Hello, Jonathan."
"Hey, Selina. What you doing?" There was some muffling noise in the background.
"Nothing really, just talking to you. What about you?" Selina caught a glimpse of herself in her mirror, she was leaning up against the door completely suited up. She couldn't help but devilishly smile at this situation.
"Well I'm on my way back from Arkham, I was thinking I could head over. I got your favorite pastry from the bakery in town." Jonathan was smiling as he pulled up to a red light.
"Uh, no. I mean I am actually filling out these papers for Mr. Shrek right now, kinda a lot of paperwork and it's all due tomorrow. What about lunch tomorrow? We both have break at twelve we could meet up."She hated lying to Jonathan, she could practically taste the guilt in her mouth.
"Oh that sucks," He couldn't hide the disappointment in his tone, "Alright yeah, tomorrow works."
"I promise I'll make it up to you."
Jonathan blushed as he turned his car around, "You better. I'll call you tomorrow."
"Drive safe. Night."
