chapter sixteen

I didn't go to sleep until about 4 a.m. I couldn't stop thinking about me meeting Norman Reedus and what he told me. I had a big smile on my face and I just couldn't stop smiling. Me and Mayzie kept texting each other talking about what happened. She kept asking me what Norman told me. I hadn't told anyone and I wasn't planning on it either.

When I woke up the next morning I got up and checked my phone. Bentley had called me about 20 times and I was really surprised so I called him. He didn't answer until the 3rd ring. (B-Bentley R-Racheal)

B- Hey!!

R- Um hey

B-How are you?

R-Alright what about you?

B-Great! I was wanting to ask you something

R-Ok, what is it?

B-Um I was wondering if you wanted to go to the park with me later on?

I didn't respond as quick as I should have.

R-Uhhh

B-It's ok if you don't want to, I'll understand.

R- Um I guess I will. What park?

B-I was thinking the park by our old elementary school.

When he said that the first thing I thought of was the river.

R-Um didn't they close that park because Tyler?

B-Well yea, but it's been six years. We can sneak in.

When me, Bentley, and Tyler were younger we used to always go to a river that was near a park right behind our elementary school and we would always go swimming after school. Well one day my mom came to pick me up and she offered Bentley and Tyler a ride. Bentley said yes but Tyler said he was going to walk home. While we started driving away me and Bentley looked back at Tyler and we seen that he was running towards the park. We knew he was going to go swimming and we were a bit jealous. After we dropped off Bentley, me and my mom went to the grocery store. While we were shopping Tyler's mom came up to us looking very worried and she asked us "Have you seen Tyler anywhere? I went to the school to pick him up, then I went back to our house and I still couldn't find him." My mom told Tyler's mom "I offered him a ride home but he said he was going to go ahead and walk home." After that they both looked at me and I told him "While we were driving away me and Bentley looked back and seen Tyler heading toward the park behind our school, there's a river that we go swimming in almost every day. He's probably there swimming." Tyler's mom went very pale and said "Can you show me where the river is?" I said yes and me, my mom, and Tyler's mom ran out into the parking lot heading towards the park. When we got there I started running toward the river and Tyler's mom and my mom followed close behind. I reached the edge of the river and told them to watch out cause there was eleven foot drop if they went any closer. I looked around and I didn't see anyone or anything until I seen on the other side of the river someone bending down. I told Tyler's mom and my mom to look over the other side. Right when they looked over the person stood up and turned around. It was a man and he was carrying something in his hands. It was a little body and when he turned around he dropped the body and started running. Tyler's mom screamed and jumped into the water and starting swimming to Tyler's lifeless body. My mom picked me up and she held onto me saying "Look away now." and I turned my head but I started to cry. After we called the police the same man came back and he looked very sad and when he reached us Tyler's mom screamed "STAY AWAY FROM ME!!" the man stepped back but then said "I didn't do it. I didn't kill your boy. When I came down he was just floating upside down in the water. I swam towards him but it was too late. He didn't have a pulse and I just carried him up the other side... The reason I ran was because I went and got a police officer but before I could reach him he drover off. I'm so sorry." with that he started to walk away but the police showed up with guns in their hand pointing at the man. The man held up his hands and yelled "WHY ARE YOU POINTING YOUR GUNS AT ME?!"  and we looked from the man to the police and then they lowered their guns and started talking into their walkie talkies.

R-Tyler drowned there! I never want to swim in that river again!

B- I wasn't talking about going swimming I just wanted to see if you wanted to go the playground

R- Bentley, I don't think so.

B- Please, I'm sorry I know I was being a jerk last night and I wanted to apologize

R- I accept your apology but I just don't want to go anywhere tonight.

B-But you just said you would until I said I wanted to go to that park!

R-I know and I'm sorry but I just don't want to go anywhere now, besides my stomach is starting to hurt.

B-Whatever, have fun with Mingus.

R- I've never even talked to him! You're being really stupid now. He's the son of a famous actor and i'll never see them again!

B- Sure, then why did Norman give you his number?

R- He didn't give me his number he gave me Mi...

B- OH HE GAVE YOU MINGUS'S NUMBER! AH WELL I HOPE YOU TWO LIVE HAPPILY EVER AFTER!!!!

R- Bentley.. What the heck? Like for real *laughs*

B- Whatever. Bye

R*Pushed end button*

Wow, that was interesting. I started laughing that Bentley was that mad just cause I didn't want to go with him to a park where one of my childhood best friends died. I started texting Mayzie again and told her what happened. She said he was being ridiculous but then we started talking about our trip to New York. (M- Mayzie R-Racheal)

R- Alright so, your dad still letting us take his jet?

M-Yup I'm all packed up. We can go anytime.

R- Wow well I'll call Anthony and ask him when we can.

M- Alright, well I'm going to bed. Maybe see you tomorrow?

R- Yea, I'll ask my mom if she could drive me. Bye

M- Ok bye!
