Fuck. I'm an idiot. It was nearing show time and I'd need to help sooner or later or I'd actually be fired this time. Why. Why am I so awkward. I took a deep breath and headed for backstage. Callie called me over as soon as she saw me. She handed me a headset. Jill came over to me next.
"You're in charge of getting the bands to stage on time." She handed me a clipboard with a bunch of papers. "Make sure they're on time." Now why did she put me in charge of this job when she knew that I came in two hours late? I nodded in agreement and adjusted my headset. I could hear multiple people talking through them. I could hear the screaming girls yelling over some preview that was airing on the giant screens. I just shook my head. Idiots. How could you be so obsessed about a stupid band. I looked down at my clipboard.

Well that has to be the Luke I made a complete fool out of myself in front of. Now I have to walk into his dressing room and get him and his other friends to tell them they need to come to the stage? Well this should be a fun night. "Hey Mavery, can you go give this to Ethan up in sound?" Fred, another person working in sound, asks me.
I was hesitant. I still not completely sure what happened before. I've never thought of Ethan in any sort of that way. He was my first friend working here next to Callie, but never have I thought romantically of him. Sure, he was pretty good looking, but he was like a brother to me. "Um yeah sure," I reply. I would save Fred a trip and I can't let this effect me working. I'm just handing him a cable and that's it, I tell myself. Nothing else. I walk towards the sound crew as I feel my phone buzz in my pocket. It's from my mom.
Sorry honey I won't be home tonight
Typical. I shook it off as I saw Ethan. "Ethan, Fred wanted me to give this to you." He looked up a little startled. I don't think he thought he was going to see me again tonight after the past events. "Uhh thanks" he stuttered. I walked away as soon as the cable left my hand. Alright now that was awkward.

I stood outside the door. I could hear loud music playing and various laughs coming from the other side. There was a blasting of talk dirty. I couldn't help but some what sing along. I adjusted my shirt and slid the clipboard under my arm and then I knocked. There was a muffled "COME IN." I turned the knob just as the music stopped.
"Um you guys are on in 10," I shyly mumbled. "What?" a guy with galaxy hair asked me. "You're on in 10," I said this time with a bit more confidence. In front of me were 4 extremely attractive guys. I looked around as the guys got their stuff they needed for stage. They were all really tall. Compared to my 5'5 average height they were giants. "So what's you name?" a tanned dark haired boy asked me.
"Um I'm Mavery." "A beautiful name for a beautiful girl. Hi I'm Calum" the boy commented back receiving a nudge from another boy. I blushed. In the corner of my eye I noticed Luke. This was the first time I actually got to see his features. I also noticed they all had thick accents. Australian maybe...?
But this boy, he had gorgeous blonde hair and piercing blue eyes. I couldn't help but stare. He looked up for a moment and I shot my eyes back to the ground. They all started heading for the door. I lead them to backstage as they got their instruments. So, they play instruments eh? I then suddnely felt a tap on my shoulder.
I turned around to see Luke, once again. "Hey uh sorry for bumping into you before," he said as he scratched the back of his neck. "It's fine," as I stared into his eyes. They we're such a beautiful color. Oh wait dammit I was staring. I heard a command come through my headset telling me they were to go. "5 SECONDS OF SUMMER ON IN 2" I yelled. Luke had moved from next to me to putting his ear pieces in. The rest of the band did the same.
They needed to go on stage now.
"BOYS YOU'RE ON IN 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5," I counted down as I saw them head for the stage. I saw all the flashing lights as I heard the guitar start an intro. Damn they were pretty good. As what I could see Luke and Calum mostly sang. They had really good voices. Once their set was almost over it was time to get the One Direction boys. I knocked on their door. "Coming," a strong British accent called. I believe it was Zayn who opened the door. You boys are on in 15 minutes. The same as Luke and his band the 1D boys followed me. As we arrived to the stage I just saw Ashton enter from the wing. Everyone was commenting on how good they were. "Good Job," I said as Luke passed by. He gave me a quick smile and left to the dressing room along with the others. I suddenly blushed. Wait. What? I never blush what the fuck.

The show had ended about two hours ago and security finally got the final girls out of the stadium. Now time for my favorite part. Clean up. You see some people think I'm being sarcastic, but i'm not. I don't like all the hype of the concerts and the screaming. I like being alone just myself and a few other people just talking. I met up with Callie as she was taking the merch down from the walls it was hanging on.
"Good crowd eh?" She asked.
"Yeah it was insane." I commented. "Well I've got to get going," Callie said a little too excitedly after she took down the last shirt hanging from the wall.
"You sound overly excited." All she did was smile.
"What's going on?" I asked.
"Brandon asked me to come over."
She's been dating Brandon for like 9 months why was she so excited?
"I think tonight's the night."
The night. Oh I did not need to know that. I remember when Callie first told me how she met Brandon. It was totally cliché and I hated it. I hate cliché. She was out with her friends at a party and she wasn't enjoying it very much might I add. So she stepped outside to get some air and there he was. He was siting on the porch swing smoking a cigarette. She told me it was quite awkward because she was sitting on the other side of the porch for like 5 minutes not knowing what to do until he asked her if she wanted one. She nodded her head and went to go sit next to him. And there they went. Totally unrealistic. Like out of a fairytale or something. Well I know that fairytales are not true at all and you have to work for things. I'm not a dumb hopeless romantic waiting for Prince Charming to knock at my door. People who do that are just wasting their time. Nobody ever truly loves you. I learned that the hard way.
I was brought our of my trance when Callie started snapping her fingers in front of my face. I shooed them away. She laughed.
"Well I'll see you later!" she yelled with her back towards me heading for the door.
"Bye! Use protection!" I shouted. I could faintly hear her mimicking me as the door closed.
Well I was alone now. I took the broom from the side of the wing and started sweeping towards the center of the stage.
