It was weird, dancing with Drew. I'm not usually one to go dance with a total stranger, at a club no less, but it felt good. I felt free.
Everything I was worrying about stopped. Drew was like that one guy friend I never really had, it was cool.
We were having fun dancing to the upbeat music blasting through the club.
A bartender passes us with a plate of shots, I take one and quickly tilt my head back while letting the burning sensation of my throat take over my mind. I shake my head and close my eyes as I thrive off the feeling I get when I take another drink.
"So, kiwi girl having fun yet?" Drew asked with a wink as we continued dancing to the overbearing music.
I smirk, "Oh, I'm just getting started."
Drew is all smiles until his smile fades. I'm about to question him when I feel a hand on my shoulder.
"Mavery? Mavery what are you doing?" A deep voiced echoed through my ears.
Shit. It can't be?
I turn around to see an angry Luke behind me."Uh, I, uh," I was stuttered random things, "I couldn't find anything to say."
"I'm uh dancing?" Wow great one Mavery.
"With this loser?"
I was taken aback about what Luke had just said. He didn't even know Drew. In the distance I could see Calum's familiar head bobbing through the crowd as he towered over everyone.
"Excuse me who are you?" Drew questioned stepping in front of me and walking towards Luke a little more.
"Not a random douche bag dancing with some girl to get in her pants," Luke continued.
Drew scoffed, "At least I'm not a jackass who made this girl here feel so pathetic, you're just like every other pop star out there mate," Drew mimicked Luke's accent, and with that Luke went to throw the first punch.
The scene unraveled itself before I realized what was happening. Luke was on top of Drew, throwing punches left and right. His fist connected itself with Drew's nose, eyes, and mouth as he bruised another part of his face with each hit.
Drew trying to stop Luke's fist, rolled himself on top of Luke and started throwing punches himself.
"Luke! Drew! Stop!" I yelled as a crowd began to form around us.
Frantically Calum and Michael burst through the circle, each one grabbing a boy and pulling them away from each other. Calum's arms were around Luke as Drew and Luke kept trying to throw another punch. I didn't know I was crying until I felt Ashton's arms pull me into an embrace. From what I could see, Luke had a fat lip, a black eye, and a few bruises above his cheek, as for Drew had cuts all around his eyebrows, his lip was bleeding, and his eye was puffy.
Michael let go of Drew as soon as him and Luke were within a safe distance of each other. I ran over to Drew to give him a hug. He didn't deserve this, I can't believe he just got like beat up because of my stupid issues.
With a burst of sudden anger I turned towards Luke, "What the hell is wrong with you?" I yelled.
Luke looked shocked. He was speechless.
"Did you really just beat up this guy? He wasn't any harm. He actually was my friend and was nice, unlike you. Remember you played me!" I shouted. I was about 80% sure that the entire club could hear us, but I didn't care if we caused a scene. I was pissed off.
I turned away from Luke with Drew on my heels as I brought him into the girls bathroom. Although, there was no one in there I made sure that we would be quick. Drew sat on the sink counter as I took a wet paper towel and started to wipe the blood off his face.I sighed, "Look Drew, I'm so sorry! I didn't know they would find me, I was just trying to enjoy a good time."
I looked up to see Drew actually laughing, "That was actually quite fun. I've always wanted to fight someone."
I hit his arm, "It is not funny!"
He chuckled again, "It actually kind of is."
I frowned, "But your lip and eyebrow are like busted."He flexed his arm and grinned as he spoke "Makes me look hardcore don't you think? I'll get all the bitches when I look badass."
"But, Drew," I whined, "Your hurt."
"Hey Kiwi, I might be physically hurt, which by the way doesn't even hurt that much, but you're in so much more pain than me right now."I sighed, why was life so hard.
"You know you have to go out there and face them right?""Or we can just stay in the bathroom forever?" I smiled as I tried to avoid walking out of this bathroom.
He just shakes his head as he jumps down from the counter and turns me towards the door.
"You can do it." He cooes in my ear as he slowly walks towards the door.
"But I won't see you again!" I contradict.
"You totally will, okay how about you put your number in my phone and you text me if you need help or tell me what's going on later. I need to catch up on all the gossip." Drew imiatated a teenage girl as he finished his sentence.
We quickly exchanged phones as he slowly left before me.
I watched as his back dissapeared from the front of the door and how I was feeling the same feeling as I was when Michael first brought me here.I took a deep breath as I took a step towards the door. I have to do this. I need to face them. I need to work it out. I don't have to forgive him though. He was an ass, but he others aren't and they don't deserve to spend their time chasing after me. They were all too nice, and adding me into this equation just made their lives suckier.
I took another step towards the door, but maybe if I just left again they'd finally just give up and move on with their lives. I couldn't do that to Cal, Ash, or Mike though. I couldn't put them through this to just keep running.
My hand touched the handle. I can do this. I took a deep breath and swung the door open walking into the room filled with flashing lights wreched with the smell of alcohol. Outside, I spotted Michael's head as he looked around, probably trying to find either Drew or me. I tapped his shoulder causing him to pull me into a tight hug as he turned around. I felt comfortable in his arms. Not romantically, but I felt safe. I felt like I could trust him.
"I'm sorry," I mumbled into his chest. I closed my eyes as I just rested in his arms.
He stroked my hair, "It's okay. I'm sorry I forced you to come with me."We stayed silent as I looked back up at him, "Mikey, I sort of just want to sleep." I sounded needy and whiny but I was tired and didn't want to do anything else for the night.
He nodded as he started to explain, "I have a cab, and you can stay in my hotel room tonight. I'll just tell Ash to go crash with Calum and Luke and I'll sleep on the couch in the middle area. Ash will understand and no one's going to bother you."
A small smile appeared upon my lips Mike was so caring. He was like the big brother I never had. I hugged him one last time before we started making our way through the crowd of people and headed towards the door.
_By the time we got to the hotel I was ready to pass out. I hardly made it to the room without falling asleep. Michael handed me a pair of sweats and a tshirt to change into, and made sure I got into bed nicely. He tucked in my covers for me and I started to laugh. "You know I'm not 6 right?" I said in a jokingly manor.
"I don't know Mavery, in my opinion you sort of look like a 12 year old boy."
I pouted, "I"m kidding, I'm kidding," Michaels signature smirk played upon his lips.
"No but really Mike, thank you," I lifted my body weight up so I could kiss his cheek.
"I'll see you tomorrow, I'm right outside if you need me."
I nodded as I snuggled into the sheets more.
Maybe tomorrow will be better. But tomorrow I have to face the consequences of this crazy mess I made.
Oh god.-
