Vik has always been fascinated by the ocean. The blue waves and soft sand is so comforting. The way the water crashing against the land lulls Vik to sleep every night. The deep blue clashes against the fiery sunset and sunrise. Vik loves the feeling of the sand in between his toes and the water gliding through his fingers.

The ocean is just filled with mysteries.

Vik came out earlier than normal to enjoy the ocean breeze. The smell of salt wafted by him. He sat on the shoreline as the water occasionally brushed against his toes. His house stood tall behind him.

That's when he saw something he'd never seen before. Dolphins jumping across the way. There were only three but even so. They were bouncing in the sea enjoying themselves. But that wasn't the only thing he saw. There was a yellow-ish object that floated to surface.

But then it went back under. So it didn't float. Vik stood up and walked until the sea pooled around his ankles. The yellow thing resurfaced and closer this time. Vik could now see it was a human head.

"Hello?!" he yelled out to it. It stared at him. "Why are you out there?! ... Do you need help?!"

The person slowly approached Vik like a shark. As they came even closer. Vik could clearly see it was male human with blonde hair. Vik took a cautious step backward. The two were equally scared of each other.

The other human started to splash around and jump as if to try and scare Vik off like an animal. It didn't work. Instead Vik saw that the man had tail. A fish's tail.

Vik couldn't believe his eyes. Has he just spotted a merman? Aren't they just a myth?

"Hey!" Vik shouted. Startled, the merman swam aside to large rock lodged between the sand and the ocean. Vik backed out of the water and slowly strolled over to the rock.

The merman peeked from behind the rock. His tail would occasionally rise up above the water. Its light blue scales glistened under the sun. Exactly like his eyes. Vik was drawn to the beautiful creature.

"Don't be frightened." Vik assured. The half-man-half-fish carefully released himself from the rock. Vik stepped back into the water with hand out.

He eventually stood face to face with the merman.

"Will you tell me your name now? I'm Vik." He introduced himself but the other still refused to speak. Vik wasn't sure why. "I won't hurt you. I only want to know your name." He swam past Vik and up to the sand where he spelled out his name.

"H."

"A."

"R."

"R."

"Y."

"Harry. Okay." Vik smiled and Harry smiled back. Vik sat back down. But Harry was having none of that. He grabbed the human's arm and tugged him until he got up. Vik followed his Harry who was coaxing him to the ocean. Vik went as far in as he was comfortable. He didn't want to get in deep. He can't swim very well.

Harry swam back and forth very fast just below the water. He unexpectedly popped up and splashed Vik who laughed. It was made clear Harry wanted to play with the human. Vik did his best to entertain the sea creature. The blonde swam around Vik in circles. When he came back up, he handed Vik some seashells.

"These are very nice I'll put them over here." Vik said. Luckily Harry seems to understand him. Vik walked back onto shore and placed the shells on the ground. Harry followed him over with more shells and sand dollars. "Thank you for the treasures."

Harry swam off when Vik wasn't looking. When Vik saw he wasn't there, he was very confused. Did he do something wrong? He didn't do anything wrong for Harry returned.

And with a jellyfish as well.

"Oh that's cool!" Vik was amused by the purple blob in his new friend's hands. Harry held out for Vik to take. "Oh, no thanks." Vik backed away. Harry disappeared in the water again.

This time he came back with a starfish.

"I like that but I shouldn't keep it. It might die." Vik declined the offer again. Harry didn't care if Vik didn't want it. He was going to have it.

Harry threw the starfish with all his might over Vik's head at his house. The starfish stuck to the wall.

"Alrighty then. I guess it looks nice there." Vik scratched the back of his head. He looked back at Harry who now had a crab in his hands. "No! No! No!" The pinchers stretched out at Vik.

Harry shrugged and tossed the crab behind him.

Vik spent the rest of the day with Harry. All the way up until the point of sunset. Vik sat on the rock from earlier as Harry leaned on it with arms crossed. He stared up at Vik's brown eyes.

Vik subconsciously touched Harry's wet blonde hair. It was incredibly soft. Sea water does wonders to texture. Harry rubbed his head against Vik's hand.

"So you're a cat now?" Vik giggled. Harry tilted his head, confused. "Never mind." Vik shook his head and waved his hands. Harry waved back thinking Vik was saying hello. "No, that's not- oh forget." he laughed and rolled his eyes.

Harry touched his foot with a finger.

"Yes that's my foot." Vik told him. The finger moved up to his calf. "And that's my leg. It's what humans use to move around." The finger continued to trace upward, then the whole hand. "Uhh..." Vik's voice was shaking as Harry's hand moved further up.

Vik tumbled backwards off the rock. Harry hoisted himself up to see if Vik was okay.

"I think it's time I go inside." Vik said awkwardly. Harry only blinked. Vik leaned on the rock. "Which means you should go. I'm sure you have family waiting for you." Harry eyed Vik's face.

He unexpectedly pressed his lips against Vik's. Vik's eyes shot open with shock. Harry quickly removed his lips and leaped into the sea like dolphin before disappearing.

"See you tomorrow then...?"
