The next morning, I was sitting at a booth with Gray, Lucy, and Erza, having breakfast, when Natsu and Happy burst in, already yelling their heads off.
"Baaaazzz!" Natsu yelled and came over, hugging me and knocking me to the floor. "You never came home last night! You worried me! Where were you?!" He looked down at me with hard eyes as I tried to regain my breath.
"Jesus, Natsu. Calm down. I was fine." I said and he glared.
"I'm good now knowing you were fine, but where were you?" He ordered, and I gripped his collar to bring his face to mine so I could whisper in his ear.
"I was at Gray's last night." I said and he sat up on my hips so fast, looking so shocked.
"You were WHERE?!" He screeched.
"Not so loud! Geez! Stop yelling!" I said and pushed him over, now pinning him down. "Don't you dare say a word to anyone, okay? I don't need everyone in my business." I said and he pushed me back so we sat facing each other.
"Fine, but why? I thought you-" he started.
"Well, we talked it out. Now we're good." I said and he nodded.
"Fine, but if anything happens, I got your back." He said and I beamed and hugged him.
"Oh, thank you, Natsu!" I squealed and he just hummed with one hand on my back and one on my head, stroking my hair. Then he pulled us up and sat me back down in front of my food.
Natsu sat beside me with his head on my shoulder and soon fell asleep. I chuckled to myself. "That didn't take long at all."
"Well, he was up almost all night worrying about you." Happy hummed, standing in front of me.
"Aw. We'd better get him home so he can sleep." I hummed and finished up my breakfast, then set down some money. "Help me out, Happy?"
"Aye, sir!" He said and sprouted wings to help with Natsu's weight as we carried him out.
Soon we got home and got Natsu into bed, and I collapsed on the sofa, breathless.
"Are you alright, Baz?" Happy asked.
"I am not a strong person." I breathed heavily, trying to get my breath back and not die.
I soon pushed myself up to get some water, then undressed, keeping my panties and a long shirt I found on, and fell beside Natsu to get some sleep since I missed some last night. Wink wink nudge nudge.
Later, I woke up and Natsu was staring at the ceiling beside me.
"So are you and Gray together now?" He asked softly.
"Yeah." I hummed and looked over at him. "Did you mean it? What you said? About having my back?" I asked.
"Of course. You're my best friend." He turned and smiled an adorable, trustworthy smile at me.
"You're my best friend, too." I hummed and stared up at the ceiling. "So how are you gonna ask Lucy out?"
"WHAT. WHERE DID THAT COME FROM? I DON'T LIKE LUCY." He yelled right in my ear.
"Bullshit." I sang. "I see how you look at her. And trust me, she likes you too. Don't keep a girl waiting. We're not patient about this stuff."
Natsu turned back to stare at the ceiling silently. "It's just... she's so pretty, and kind, and smart, and I'm so... me." He sighed.
"And that is exactly what she wants, Natsu. You think Lucy's waiting around for Prince Charming? Hell no. She wants a dragon, and you're taking too fucking long." I snapped.
"What do I do?" He looked over at me the same time I looked at him.
"I'll help you, but I am not doing everything for you. You fuck it up, that's on you." I said, sitting up, and he nodded.
"Alright. What do I do?" He asked, sitting up beside me.
"You're ready to do this? Like, right now?" I asked and he nodded.
"You said she was waiting. I'm tired of waiting too." He said and I smiled and ruffled his hair.
"That's my boy." I said and pulled us out of bed to get planning.
