The whole trip back to the guild was hell. Erza, Lucy, and Happy wouldn't stop asking questions that I refused to answer.

When we got to the guild, I was ready to pull my hair out and scream at them.

"Hey! Glad you're back! How was the-" Mira quieted when she saw the looks on our face.

"Did you finish the job?" Master asked.

"Yep." Natsu answered.

"Paid?"

"Uh-huh." Lucy nodded stiffly.

"So why do you all look like that?" He asked.

"Baz is-" Erza started.

"I'm not doing anything! You just won't get off my back!" I snapped.

"We're a team, we don't keep secrets!" Erza yelled back.

"That's rich, being as I know nothing about you!" I got in her face, feeling bold.

"Hey, you don't wanna fight Erza, Baz..." Gray held my arm.

"I'll fight whoever I want, and right now I wanna fight someone who's getting on my fucking nerves." I hissed, getting my arm out of his grip.

"No, even I know that's stupid." Natsu picked me up and I turned and concentrated on his eyes.

"Natsu, put me down." I ordered, and he did so, making people uneasy that I finally used my magic on him.

I stepped towards Erza and Lucy, looking and feeling hella fucking pissed.

"Look, it's not exactly about keeping secrets. It's just something I'd prefer to keep private, cos guess the fuck what? I have a right to privacy! Team or not, I don't care, I just don't want everyone all up in my business." I said.

"It's just your old job! How is it so bad?" Lucy gasped.

"Because it defined me as a person for quite a while, and I'm still paying the price for it. Why do you guys even care so much, anyway? It's in the past." I huffed.

"We care so much because it still seems to bother you, and as you said, you're still paying for it. We care because we want to help you, Baz! I also don't find it fair that Natsu and Gray know while we can't! And that girl figured it out within five minutes of knowing you." Lucy said, coming over and holding my hands.

"We've heard you say that people don't see 'people like you' as actual people. Listen, Baz. We don't care. We'll still be here. We won't think any different. We know you, and we care about you." She said in a soft, caring voice, that made me look down thanks to the tears in my eyes.

"My old job... I was..." I sighed, looking up and in her eyes. "I was a prostitute." I said bravely.

Shit. No going back now.

"A what?" Some people gasped.

"I worked gigs at bars most afternoons and nights. I was homeless. To get a place to stay for the night, I would find someone, sleep with them for money, then rob them as they slept. Around dawn, I'd disappear to another bar and repeat the process to not get caught. It kept me going for quite a few years, too." I sniffed.

"The night Natsu found me, I had almost enough money for a hotel room for the night, but not dinner. My bartender friend was helping me pick out someone to sleep with and rob, and she pointed him out to me as he came to her for a refill. I offered, he refused and said he wanted to help me instead. The next day, we were here." I said and Lucy wiped my cheeks with her thumbs and a small smile.

"Don't pity me." I said with a cracking voice.

"Of course not. You're too strong for pity. You did what you had to. And now you have us to support you." She said happily, and I cracked a smile and a small laugh.

"I had no idea... I'm so sorry, Baz..." Erza hung her head.

"It's alright, Erza." I shook my head. "Sorry for doubting you guys as anything but nice."

"Yeah, Baz. Shoulda known better." Gray had his arm around my shoulder and kissed my temple.

"Shut up, Gray." I pushed him back playfully.

"Oh! Reminding me!" Mira spoke up.

"Yeah?" Gray asked.

"Juvia came back yesterday. We didn't tell her about you and Baz. We didn't have the guts." Levy said.

"Oh, fuck." Gray sighed.

"Huh?" I was lost, but I had a feeling it was bad.
