Finally night fell. I had noticed that Lucy seemed worried earlier and my suspicions were confirmed when I caught her staring at me multiple times. I wasn't sure if she was just confused or if she was afraid that I would beat her. Honestly I don't even know if she knew we were going to fight or not.
We waited until almost midnight before we snuck out of the Tent to deal with Lucy. The moon was full here. I didn't know how much time had actually passed but it hadn't felt like a month. That meant that time moved a little differently here. On the way there I took Mason's gun and holster and slipped them around my own waist. We soon came to a dirt clearing. I had explained to Mason and my Mable how this would work and that they couldn't help me no matter what.
While Mable and Mason stood watch, I drew in the dirt. I drew Lucy's circle and sat in the very center of it. I began to chant. "EM OT, YCUL! REVEROF TCARTNOC RUO KAERB OT HSIW I! EREH UOY NOMMUS I! YCUL!"
Suddenly Lucy appeared in front of me. "So, Lily, you figured out how to trap me in my circle. Hope your little boyfriend and his sister don't try to interfere." Lucy glared at me.
I began to circle her. "It's not them I'd be worried about Lucy. You're stuck in here with me... you will fight me to break our contract. The best part is since you're merely a luck demon not a dream demon you'll never get to make another deal again if I defeat you."
She smiled mercilessly at me. "Yes but if I defeat you, then your life ends and I get your body as my own... permanently."
"Then our final deal has been made. Prepare to be dragged back to the nightmare realm you bitch."
"Now now, Lily. Language." She began to walk around the circle too. She seemed confident in her abilities, but I knew she shouldn't be. "I suppose I'll have to cause you a little harm in order to win... drat. I really didn't want to scar my body any more than it already is..." Lucy rushed at me but I managed to dodge her just in time. "Just kidding. I don't care about scars. You're faster than I expected you to be. You've been training for this. It won't help you know..." she kept going but I blocked her out.
One of us would have to attack again eventually... and we couldn't continually dodge each other forever. She'd out last me with ease. I was soon rewarded with a furious Lucy going for my feet.
She managed to grab hold of me and pull me to the ground. She pined my arms behind me and held me down. "You'll never win! You're a mortal just like any other human! Harm befalls you and affects your pathetic little lives so easily. I hardly have to turn before a new, better host when compared to you turns up. Inevitably you die and you know it... yet you all struggle to live. If only you'd let me take over for good. I could ha-"
She cut off when I hit her in the face, knocking her off of me. I wiped a bit of spit from the corner of my mouth as I stood up. "No Lucy. You don't get it. Our lives may end, but they're not meaningless. Not like yours. Luck is nothing! It's a word with no real meaning behind it! Luck runs out! You don't ever do anything good for us! So go back to the fucking nightmare realm and leave this world alone!"
It was working. I was making her madder with each word. She came at me again and I dodged... but it didn't help much. Her rage kept growing until it was a thick golden shine around her body. She kept attacking and I kept blocking and dodging. Every now and then she's get close to me and I'd land a blow to her head or stomach. It was almost like an intricate dance. Every time I hit her she got angrier. She was growing weaker as she got madder, her life force escaping through the golden glow around her body as she attacked. I dodged one last attack... but it was a feint and she brought me crashing to the ground on top of my arms once again. I struggled to free my arms as she grabbed hold of my head and lifted it off the ground.
"I told you I don't care about scars... so how's about we give you another. It'll look good on me. I can get an eye patch just like Mr. Cipher's." She put her thumb over my open eye. "It will be wonderful!"
SQUELCH!
Pain filled my eye socket and I coughed up some blood... but adrenaline kicked in and I pulled my hand free form behind my back. I reached for Mason's gun around my waist while Lucy just laughed and waited for me to bleed to death. I lifted the gun so it was even with Lucy's stomach and took off the safety. I pulled the trigger.
BANG!
Lucy stopped laughing and reached down to where the bullet had gone into her side. I took her distraction as a chance to get away from her by knocking her sideways. I crawled halfway across the circle before I lifted my free hand to my face. She had dealt some serious damage. She'd managed to poke out my eye for good by squishing it back into my skill until it popped. Blood was gushing from the wound. My hand still over my empty eye socket I stood up. "Good job Lucy." I walked to point blank range. "You got so mad you forgot that I had the upper hand." I pointed the gun at her head. "Are you ready to go back to the nightmare realm you fucking bitch?" I pulled back the hammer.
She let her head slump to the side. She coughed up some blood. "You've beaten me... good luck staying alive with a wound like that... you're going to die any way!"
"No, Lucy, I don't need luck. No one does. I'll survive but I can't say the same for you." I pulled the trigger.
BANG!
"Good bye, Lucy Luck. No one will ever miss you." I fell to the ground again and watched as Lucy evaporated into blue and gold dust and eventually disappeared. I coughed up more blood as I broke the outer edge of the circle to allow Mason and my Mable in. Slowly, my vision went black.
