It's a story of girl saves boy. Boy is nerd. Girl is flattered by his awkwardness. They go on date. Fall in love. Get married. Sounds like a classic right? No? Good. I didn't think so. Because nothing is ever that simple. Not in Gravity Falls and mo...
Mabel was sitting in front of the tree in a yellow sweater with a menorah and a Christmas tree on it. She jumped up as I walked into the room. "Lillyin!" She wrapped her arms around me. "I can't wait to see what you got me!"
"Well you'll have to wait a little bit." I pried her off me and straitened the shawl. "And this doubles as you Christmas and Hanukkah gift."
She laughed and ran off into the kitchen.
I rolled my eyes and picked up my helmet off the middle of the floor. I went into the gift shop and hid it behind the counter. I looked up as the door burst open suddenly. It was a tall, bearded man and a slightly shorter woman. "Welcome to the Mystery Shack!" I said cheerily. If I hadn't it would've come out of my pay check.
The man looked me over once. "Could you help us? We need a mechanic. Our car broke down and we're supposed to be in Medford by morning."
"Well Jim's shop is closed for the holiday but I can help you." I grabbed the tool belt from the space behind the counter.
"Oh, you, uh... you work on cars?"
"Yes sir, I do." I strapped the belt around my waist and grabbed my coat as I walked out from behind the counter. "In fact that's my bike out front. Built her myself." I smiled and noticed the woman a bit more as I walked by. She was pretty and blonde and at least seven months along. I noticed she was staring at me as I passed. I sighed quietly. I opened the door and found a blizzard. "Miss, you can stay in here if you'd like."
She nodded. "Thank you."
I followed the man out into the snow and to his pickup truck. "Pop the hood."
He quickly did as I said and held the hood up as I leaned over the engine. "Do you think you can fix it?"
"Hold on..." I looked over the engine and turned a few things. I brushed my hair out of my face. "Try to start it." He did so and nothing happened. What's with this thing? All the fuses are good and the antifreeze is there... I strained to see through the snow as the wind picked up even more, cutting through my coat. I closed the hood. "I'm sorry sir! There's nothing I can do in this weather!" I yelled over the wind. I led the way back to the shack and stepped inside shivering.
Stanley Pines came into the gift shop just after we opened the door. "Lillyin! Close that door! You're going to freeze us out!"
The man and I came through the door and I shut it tight behind me. "Calm down Mr. Pines. It's shut." I rolled my eyes. I turned to the man and woman. "I'm very sorry I was unable to help you. I don't know what's wrong. Everything I could see looked to be in working order."
That was when Stanley noticed the man and woman. He bit his lip for a moment then sighed and rubbed the bridge of his nose. "I heard you had some car trouble and, uh, ya know, I can't, uh... so you're welcome to join us... We're about to eat..."
I smiled a little. Stanley wasn't someone you'd think of as being very kind hearted but he had his moments. I took off my coat and put it back behind the counter. The odds of me going home tonight were pretty small.
**Time Skip **
"I'm so full..." I sat down heavily on the couch beside Mason. I should tell him... but how do you say something like that? We'd just finished eating and were only waiting on Mr. and Mrs. Pines to finish eating. I looked around at everyone. Mabel was waiting excitedly to pass out the gifts, the man and woman, Jake and Kate, were sitting side by side on the other end of the couch, Stanley was in his chair, half asleep, and Ford was sitting crisscross on the floor about three feet away looking at an old photo with a joyful sadness in his eye. I wondered what the picture was of but Mr. and Mrs. Pines came into the room carrying folding chairs and he quickly shoved it into his pocket.
"We can start!" Mabel started into passing out gifts.
Jake and Kate were surprised when they each were handed a gift. They were from me. While they'd eaten I'd gone into the gift shop and bought a Gravity Falls Christmas snow globe and a cute blue baby blanket with a pine tree on it. I hadn't had much time to wrap them so the paper was shot-y at best.
Mabel finished handing out the gifts. I had one from each of the Pines except Mrs. Pines but I was already wearing hers. Smiling Mable told us how it was done. "We'll go around in a circle and open one gift each, then we can open the rest of them. I'll start!" Mable began to tear into one of the gifts in front of her that looked like it may have been wrapped in tape.
Kate leaned over towards me a little. "Thank you already, Lillyin." She smiled and gestured at the gifts. "I was wondering... the eye patch... is it..." She trailed slowly off.
I smiled at her. I couldn't blame her for being curious. "Yes. It is real... but don't feel sorry for me, please. It seems like everyone does anymore."
She smiled at me. "Don't worry. I'm not going to treat you any different."
"Thanks Grunkle Ford!" yelled Mabel, a 500 pack of sparkle stickers in her hand.
Ford smiled. "I knew you'd like them."
"Ford, it's your turn." I said encouraging him to open his gifts.
"Ah, yes." He picked up the one that was obviously from Mabel. Just like all of her others it was covered in glitter. He pulled off the paper and held up a red turtle neck sweater. He turned it around to check for any patterns but it was blank and identical to the one he was wearing. He smiled. "Thank you Mabel... your turn Dipper."

"Right." Mason grabbed a random gift from his small pile. "From Grunkle Stan." He took off the wrapping paper. It was a hat with a pine tree on it. He smiled. "It's just like my old one. Thanks Grunkle Stan." He put the hat on his head and sat back with his arm around me.
I leaned forward. "My turn." I picked up a random gift too. It was from Mabel. I tore off the paper trying not to get too much glitter on my dress. I held up a sweater. Mine was blue and had a green pine tree with a smiley face on it. "It's lovely Mabel. Thank you." I folded it and set it on my lap. "Your turn Kate."
