My cousin, James, had been staying with us for about two weeks now since he got kicked out of his house at the age of 17. His parents had told him they would if he dropped out of school but he never believed they would actually do it. He had gone back to school soon after but his parents wouldn't take him back in so he'd come to us. He wrapped his arms around me from behind the couch, an open letter in his hand. "So, Lillyin... who's Mason?" He'd always been protective of me and had even threatened the first boy I ever brought home. The first boy was actually my best friend's gay cousin who was helping me with my prom dress.

"He's none of your business. Why?" I leaned my head back on the couch and looked up at him. "Did he call?"

"No." he spaced off for a moment. Being A.D.H.D. he tended to do this a lot. "It's snowing again..."

I snapped my fingers. "James. What did you want to know about Mason for?"

He shook his head. "Right. He sent you a letter." He layed his head on top of mine, he held the unfolded paper in front of me with one so I could read it.

"You read my mail?" I was furious. Sure he'd still given it to me and Mason never sent me anything bad but still! My mail was private. I looked at the letter and stilled it with my own hand. I began to read the letter in my head.

I began to read the letter in my head

Dear Lillyin

I've missed you so much. You'll never believe my friends' reactions when I showed them the picture of us! It was priceless! Mabel was so happy. She keeps saying she brought us together and calls us her O.T.P. [What does that even mean?!] She misses you too. She keeps telling me to write you more but this is the first time I've been able to afford a stamp.

I have exciting news! We're going to Gravity Falls for Christmas/Hanukkah this year. Mabel insists we celebrate both. Can't wait to see you! You'll get to meet my parents too. I hope they like you and your family but my mom can be a bit judge-y. We'll arrive two days before Christmas Eve.

I'll see you soon!

Love, Mason

"That's sweet..." James let go of the letter. "He's your boyfriend then?"

"Yeah." I put my other hand on my eye patch remembering the little message that I'd never shown anyone else. "And his sister, Mabel, once saved my life."

He stood up strait and walked around the couch to watch TV with me. "He'll get here tomorrow right? You'll have to introduce us."

I smiled. It was cute watching James try to be protective. "Are you sure about that? You'll have to ride on my bike with me." As protective of me [you know, me being his favorite cousin and all] as James was, he was a little scared of riding on my bike. He still hadn't done it and it probably didn't help that I had told him about relearning how to ride after I lost my eye.

"I'm sure." He sounded confident as he grabbed the remote off my leg. "I want to meet him."

I smiled and looked at a picture collage I'd made of me and Mason. "Aright then. I'll introduce you to them tomorrow." I took the remote back from him. "And it's my TV time."
