It's a story of girl saves boy. Boy is nerd. Girl is flattered by his awkwardness. They go on date. Fall in love. Get married. Sounds like a classic right? No? Good. I didn't think so. Because nothing is ever that simple. Not in Gravity Falls and mo...
I ended up eating at Mason's house that night. We had mac and cheese. Childish, right? After supper I sat on the couch with Mason and Mable. We decided that we wouldn't leave until almost dark.
"So you did finish the holsters and sling right?" Mable clicked to the next channel looking for something to watch.
"Yeah. I've just got to attach the sling." I pointed to a smallish plastic bag beside my helmet on the table. "They're in there if you want to try them on."
She dropped the remote on the couch and the TV announcer introduced the next few movies. Mable grabbed the bag and passed the .9mm holster to Mason. She grabbed and examined the revolver holster. "You really made these?"
"Yeah. They're made of foe black leather from my old ridding clothes. They buckle loosely around your waist." I took the holster from her and wrapped it around her. I buckled it for her. "There. Isn't it nice?"
The holster sat half hidden under Mable's shamrock sweater. "Yeah it is. Dipper put yours on!"
"Alright." He buckled his around his waist. "It fits nicely."
I smiled and pulled the guns out from where we had hidden them under the long coffee table. I cleared each gun before passing it to its match. I attached the sling to my 22 and slung it over my back. "Perfect." I rubbed my wrist slightly. My glove was starting to cause the bandage to chafe. I took off the glove and sighed.
Ford came into the room. "Lillyin. I have the inter-dimensional bullets you needed." He handed me three boxes of the bullets, each one for a designated gun.
I opened each box and put ten of each bullet type into the designated holster's pocket. "Each of these is a one-time use. We use them sparingly. We'll have to go through a lot of shit before we get back. I'll have the extra but their isn't many. I also have some normal bullets, as well as blanks, in my pockets." I looked back to Ford. "Can you tell us more about the different dimensions we might come into?" I sat back on the couch.
"Well I can't tell you much more than I already have but I can tell you that I have not been to every dimension. You're very likely to run into many I have yet to encounter." Ford sighed. "I only hope that they will be friendly towards you... and avoid the nightmare realm."
"Yes sir." I mock saluted. I giggled. "I know it's serious but you've said it a million times in the past week." I looked at Mason, then at Mable. "And we'll try to be back here by August 3rd. then I can spend time with you when we're not fighting for our lives. I'm going to leave a letter here with Ford for my mother. No doubt she'll come to him right away. It will say we went on a trip. It'll be vague but just enough to keep her calm." I took out my journal.
Dear Mother and Annoying Sisters,
I have gone on a cross country trip with Mable and Mason to meet their parents. Please do not pester Mr. Pines or Ford Pines or my boss about my whereabouts. They won't know. I'm not going to deal with phone calls thanks to dropping my phone while I was riding my bike and the person behind me running it over. I will see you all when I get home and tell you all about my adventure.
The Most Awesome Person in this Family, Lillyin
I pulled out the page and handed it to Ford. "That work?"
Ford read through it quickly. "It should be good." His watch started to beep. "Sundown in twenty minutes. Are you all ready to go?"

We all stood up at once. I think, and hoped, I looked confident but in reality I was probably the most nervous of us all. None of us smiled, not even Mable. I feel like we were all contemplating death. What would happen if we died? No one could say. Mason and Mable hadn't been raised religiously and I didn't believe in any god. What would the afterlife be like? We were all scared. Scared for our tonight. Scared for our tomorrow. Scared for our lives. I forced myself to stop thinking like that before Lucy tried to act on it. I shook the thoughts from my head. "We're ready."
Ford led the way out into the front yard. He handed me a detachable gun scope. "Here. When you look though this you'll be able to see the weak spot. It should glow a light blue compared to the rest of the area. Leave whenever you're ready. Good luck." He went back into the Mystery Shack and closed the door tight behind me. I took a deep breath and looked at the twins. I pulled my draw string bag tight against my back.
Mason pulled us both close in a big hug.

"Stick together." I let them go and shot into a blue space in the boundary. A bright blue-green light shone in front of us. I grabbed each of their hands. "Ready to find something new?"
They nodded at me and we stepped into the portal together.
