All That Matters

Chapter 4

We arrived to my house after walking for a while. "Drew?" I called out. "In here." he yelled I walked to the kitchen and spotted him making breakfast. "We have visitors." I said We walked back to the living room. "Ms. Mallette!" Drew said happily. "Drew you're so big now!" She said hugging him "I know. Justin it's great to see you man." he said giving Justin a manly hug. "What are you guys doing back in Canada?" he asked them. "Well we missed it here." Justin said. "And I came to visit my bestfriend." Pattie added. "Ms. Mallette I should warn you my mother has been through a lot and I'm glad you're here she'll probably listen to you." "Is it that bad?" she asked "How about you see for yourself?" I said. She got up from the couch and followed me. I opened the bedroom door and turned on the lights. "Jaiden turn of the god dam lights!" My mother yelled. She was drunk. "Mom there's someone here to see you." I said opening the window and curtains. "There's never anyone for me." she said throwing a pillow at me. I grabbed it before it hit me. I looked over at Pattie. She took a seat next to her. "Janice it's me Pattie." She said My mother turned around and her jaw dropped. "Pattie!" she said hugging her. Pattie pulled away and started tearing up. "Oh Janice what happened to you?" Pattie asked. "I'll let you two talk." I said walking out of the room. I walked back to the living room and found the guys talking. "What are you guys up to?" I asked. "Nothing much just talking." Drew said "Well don’t let me stop you." I said grabbing me bag. "Where are you going?" Justin asked "I'm going out with Lexi." "Can I come?" "Sure but we'll be doing girl things." "I don't mind lets go." He said getting up. We walked to the mall. When we arrived Justin and I walked to a coffee shop and waited for Lexi. After 30 minutes  of waiting I got a call from Lexi telling me that she wasn’t able to make it. "She won't be able to make it." I told Justin. "It's alright doesn’t mean we can't go shopping." he said smiling. We walked into the mall and walked through all the stores. After what seemed forever we finished shopping. I didn’t buy much because I didn’t have money to spend but that sure didn’t stop Justin from buying half of the mall. We called a taxi and it took us to Justin's grandparents' house. Pattie was already there when we arrived. Justin set down his bags and took a seat next to his mom. He put his arm over her shoulder and he smiled at her. They seriously have the best relationship ever. "Jaiden can Justin and I talk to you?" Pattie asked me. "Yea sure." I said getting up. We walked to Justin's room and I took a seat on his bed. "What's up?" "So I talked to your mom and she agreed to go to rehab. "Really? How did you convince her?" "We had a really long talk." "That's great news but I can't afford it." "Mom can I handle it from here?" Justin asked She nodded and left the room. He took a seat next to me. "I offered to pay your mom's rehab." "No way I'm not letting you." "Why not?" "no!" "Tell me a good reason." "Justin you just can't come back and offer you’re money I'm not a charity case and I won't use you for your money! I'm sorry but I have to go I'm late for work." I said leaving his grandparents' house angrily. I ran to the restaurant where I worked at. Lexi was covering for me. I sneaked in through the back and put on my apron and punched in. I quickly grabbed my hair and put it in a messy bun. I walked to the kitchen and grabbed some plates. I walked out to the dining room and served my tables. "Thanks for covering my tables." I told Lexi "No problem, what are friends for." she smiled. I continued my work until my shift was over. It was around 10 in the night when I started walking home. I arrived home and the whole apartment looked brighter and cleaner. I looked for my mom and saw her talking to Drew. She was showered and look like the mom I had before everything happened. "Mom." I said tearing up. "Jaiden." she said opening her arms. I ran to her and hugged her. "I want to apologize for everything. Pattie made me realize that you guys are more important than drugs and alcohol so I want to sober up." she said kissing both our cheeks. "Thank Justin for paying everything when you see him." she said I didn’t want to disappoint my mom and tell her that I wouldn’t allow Justin to pay for her rehab. "Mom I'll be back later." I said kissing her forehead. I grabbed my sweater and put it on. I walked down the street to Justin's grandparents' house. I knocked on the door and Pattie opened it. I smiled at her and walked in. "He's in his room." she smiled. I walked to his room and I saw him on his laptop retweeting and tweeting his beliebers. I smiled and knocked on the door. "Jaiden I didn’t think you were going to come after when happened today." I walked in and closed the door. I sat on his bed and looked at him. "That's why I'm here. I want to apologize for the way I acted." "Jaiden I offered to pay for your mom's rehab because you're my bestfriend, I'm glad to help you would never be a charity case to me." he said I got up and hugged him. "Thank you." I said he set his hand on the back of my head and played with my hair. "Jaiden." he said. I pulled away and looked at him. "I also did it because you matter to me." he said "You matter to me too." I whispered looking down. He lifted my chin and he looked straight into my eyes. He was leaning in but there was a knock on the door. "Justin there's someone here to see you." Pattie said behind the door. "Mom I'm busy." he yelled back. "Justin." I heard a girl say. "Selena?" he whispered. He opened the door and there stood a beautiful girl in jeans and a coat. "Selena" he said happily. He hugged her and spun her around. "I missed you." she said pecking his lips. I looked at Pattie and she had a smile on her face. Of course she was happy her son was happy. "Who's this?" Selena said pulling away. "Oh this is Jaiden my best friend." Almost forgetting I was there. "And Jaiden this is my girlfriend Selena." "Nice to meet you Jaiden." she said hugging me. "Nice to meet you." I said hugging her back. "Well I better go it's late, I just came here to thank you Justin." I said. I hugged Justin and Pattie goodbye. I ran home and everyone was already asleep. I closed the door behind me, leaned my back against the door and slowly fell the floor. I felt tears running down my cheeks. How could I be so stupid and actually think that Justin loved me. He has the most gorgeous girlfriend in the world who is rich and famous. Whereas I am nothing but poor and stupid forever thinking Justin would leave Selena to be with me. I got up and wiped my tears. I walked to the room and put on my pjs. I snuggled up to my mom and quickly fell asleep.
