Sameer POV:
"Wait what?" I tried to make sense of what in the world Amir was spewing. He was pacing back and forth in my apartment after finishing work. He looked stressed and kept running his hand through his thick disheveled hair. I rose a brow at his panic as I tried to drink from my cup of water.
Amir stopped in his tracks and finally faced me. "It's Malak."
I quickly spit out the water that was in my mouth. It has been such a long time since I've heard that name. "What!" I swallowed. "Why is Malak back into your life? I thought it was all over."
Amir nodded. "I know. Well me and her work together now." He explained. "She's working on an article with us." He added.
I narrowed my eyes. "Amir," I said slowly, "What did you do? How did you find her?" Malak and Amir had a horrible past and were basically torn apart. Amir took forever to recover. It took me so much energy and headaches to help heal his heartache. It was young innocent love and people got in the way. I knew Amir was still weak for Malak despite what his parents kept feeding him.
Amir bit his lip. "Nothing." He said quickly.
I rolled my eyes and plopped down on the white sofa. "Amir." I cocked a brow.
Amir bit his cheek. "Okay so I may have had a little influence on this incident."
I sighed and rubbed my face. "Amir." I groaned.
"Okay." He said. "I may have recommended her to her boss so Malak can get a better position and work with us." He murmured.
I took a deep breath in frustration. "Great." I then thought of the rumor i've always heard. "But isn't she married?"
I wished I hadn't said that because Amir's eyes flickered over to me, full of sadness. But he soon adverted his eyes. "But it was weird." Amir said softly.
I frowned. "What's weird."
Amir turned to me. "Sameer, she still wears the ring I gave her."

MALAK POV:
I sat down in my desk and subconsciously drummed my fingers against the dark wooden desk as I stared out my window. I watched the busy city thrive and the impatient cars leaving behind a blur with their strong headlights.
I was supposed to be working on the computer but My mind couldn't focus. I felt my other hand sore from my cheek planted on it.
"Malak?" My sister said and I spun around forgetting my thoughts.
"What?" I asked as I watched her walk over to my bed and sit on it. She was now becoming older and was attending high school. She was definitely in love with school, totally the opposite of me at her time.
She sighed. "What's wrong? You seem really stressed." My sister looked worried about me and I thought it was so cute.
"Nothing." I said. "Just have a minor boy issue." I shrugged but I knew when I remembered him, something tugged at my heart.
My sisters eyes widened. "Amir's back?"
My eyes widened. "How did you know?"
My sister chuckled. "That's the only boy you've ever cared about romantically, you idiot."
*****Going to college was very easy for me. So easy because I was only focused on one goal. To get the hell out.
While other girls worried about dating and things I didn't care about, I was racing to get as much credits in as possible.
