I was ill for about three days straight.
This sickness came from me being a workaholic, stress, and from not sleeping the amount needed. This was my body telling me to calm my shit. I felt weak and I knew if I went to work, I wouldn't be able to do anything.
I called Amir and let him know the first day and he was okay with me staying at home. He actually said to take my time which was a surprise. I thought he'd come drag me to work.
I laid in my bed, hair messy, body aching. I felt sweat beads travel down my forehead and my shirt grip on to my chest.
I was not planning on getting out of bed today at all.
Diana suddenly ran in. "Oh my god Malak! You have visitors!"
I looked at her, eyes wide. "What do you mean?"
She jumped into my bed. "Amir and Kareem are here with Choji. Oh and one other guy."
I frowned. "Sameer?"
She looked at me. "Is he the one who is slightly taller than the rest?"
I rolled my eyes. "Sure."
"Then yes!" She snapped her fingers. "My mom is wondering why only men come to visit you. She wants you to have female friends."
I looked at her. "Amir is not my friend."
Diana's eyes twinkled. "Ah so he's your lover!"
I glared at her. "Diana!!"
She shrugged. "What?!"

SAMEER:
Amir stared outside the window. "Never mind. Let's go home."
I sighed. "Why?"
Amir's eyes intensified as he stared out the window. "The Enemy is here."
I followed his gaze and realized Kareem was here too. He was outside with Choji chatting it up. I rolled my eyes. "Who cares!" I turned off the car. "Were going because you're not petty."
Amir refused. "What is he to Malak anyways? He doesn't even know her. He just follows where she goes. He's stalking her." His eyes then brightened up. I knew he just thought of an idea. "Can't we get a restraining order?" He said it with a highly interested tone. Amir turned around to face me already excited. "I can get one easily."
I looked at him slightly surprised by his crazy idea. "Amir no." I pushed him out of the car and noticed a girl standing at the front door speaking with Choji. I also noticed quickly how she batted her eyes and played with the loose string of her hijab, showing that she was obviously interested in Choji. She had a tall lean frame and was wearing oversized red knit sweater.
Amir noticed me staring. "That's Malak's sister. Don't get any ideas, she's like 18 and Malak will kill us."
I looked at Amir. "You think I'd be interested in that?" I scoffed and ran a hand through my hair.
Amir shrugged. "Thats what I said a long time ago." He got the roses out and the groceries he bought for Malak and her family.
I looked back at the pathetic giggling girl and shook my head. Amir was crazy.
*****
Malak was obviously too beat up to meet us so we were instead invited in by her mother for tea.
Amir and Kareem throughout the whole visit kept trying to up one another, Choji was busy with phone calls, and my attention was set on Diana whom I just learned the name of. I couldn't help but look her way probibly because I haven't seen a girl who didn't have an ounce of makeup on and dressed like my grandma. I mean that wasn't exactly bad but it was really rare to see that here in LA.
