It was weird to smile in front of someone. I had his wrists clamped in one hand, his laptop in the other. And his wide eyes and stunned expression simply brought out that stupid grin I hid with every moment of my existence.

Of course it died within the next four seconds as the door swung open.

I looked her down to up. Even in the cold, she was wearing grey high waisted shorts, and a pastel tank that had been cut into a crop top. Her legs were so thin, it scared me. Her complexion was only turned even paler against her black hair, and her eyes turned colder as they met mine.

Alex leaned up, pressing against my hold. "Gracie-" he started.

She held a hand up, outraged, and stopping his speech. Her voice squeaked in an annoying way. "This is what you cancelled on me for?!"

I stood before Alex could say more, stepping towards the petite bitch. "Look, asshole, he and I were working on a project for math. Y'know, he was moved into my class."

She stared past me. I saw the anger, the blame, in her eyes being shot into Alex. "Alexander," she growled. "How long has this been happening?"

"Gracie, babe, this isn't what you're thinking," he pleaded. "She was just wrestling for the laptop. I was being a jerk, a-and..."

"Save it!" She snapped. "I don't wanna hear it."

"This wasn't him," I argued, staring down at her. "In fact, it wasn't anything."

"You bitch!" She shouted. The tiny woman jumped forward, but I shoved the laptop into her chest, pushing her back.

She stumbled into the doorway, glaring at me.

I stepped closer, so our shoulders met. "Don't ever fucking touch me again," I growled, pushing past her. As I made my way down the stairs, I heard Gracie yelling at Alex and the pleading, begging, he responded with. I heard a snap and a whimper.

"Leaving so soon?" Mrs. Cronan asked. She was cooking in the kitchen.

I nodded briefly. "Thanks for having me," I grumbled.

The door slammed behind me.
