I write songs.
It actually helps me control my emotions. It's kind of like writing random words that make you upset on paper, and just putting them together. It's like solving a puzzle.
I always wrote about my feelings, ever since I was a little kid. Songs or not, I would always write little essays or journal entries to share my feelings. Even though no one would read them. They gave me a sense of comfort.
I always wanted to share them with the world, but I was afraid of them not being good enough, or people laughing at me. It's not like it never happened.
"What do you wanna do?" Luke asked after a long period of silence.
"Get drunk. But we can't do that, can we?"
He laughed. "Well, I know this liquor store just down the street. Easy access, no security cameras."
"I'm up for anything right now, honestly."
"Well, Hazel Winters, let's rob a liquor store together."
"This is what I call 'bonding time'."
We left his house and just as he said, a few minutes later, we were outside of the store.
"So, you really wanna do this?" he asked.
"I wanna feel something." I said. "Even if it's just adrenaline."
He nodded, took my hand and we entered the store.
It looked more like a run down gas station then a liquor store, if you ask me. The guy at the cash register looked like he was bored out of his mind. He didn't even look up from his phone when we entered.
"Just follow my lead." Luke said and I nodded.
He took a bottle of Jack Daniels and put it on the inside of his jacket. He started walking to the cash register. I looked at him confused but he just smirked at me.
"Do you have Mountain Dew?" he asked the cashier.
"Do we look like a store that sells Mountain Dew?"
'Wow, you must've had a hard life.' I thought to myself.
"Well, nevermind." Luke said and pulled me out of the store with him.
"That was surprisingly easy." I said.
"Well, it's not my first time doing it."
I laughed. "I figured."
He kissed me. It was a short and sweet kiss.
"Maybe I am of the reckless kind, huh?" I asked.
Luke chuckled. "No. We are of the reckless kind."
-------------
If you think I actually drank that bottle Luke stole, then you obviously don't know me. We have been sitting here talking for the past two hours and my 'I wanna get drunk' phase was slowly dying out. With Luke by my side I didn't need to get drunk. Nor was I feeling peer pressure because he wasn't drinking either.
"Why aren't you drinking?" I asked.
"I don't drink. And why aren't you drinking? You're the one who wanted to 'get drunk'." he put air quotes around 'get drunk'.
I rolled my eyes.
"You know if you roll your eyes one more time, they might roll out of your head."
I was tempted to roll my eyes again but I was already deep in thought. Why doesn't he drink? He looks just like the type.
"Huh." he said after a while.
"What?" I asked.
"You're the first person that hasn't asked me why I don't drink."
"Well, I feel like if there's a particular reason or a reason that could affect me, you would tell me."
"You're really smart you know?"
"Yes, I do." I said, seriously.
He laughed. "The reason I don't drink is because I don't feel the need to. I feel like a lot of people drink to forget, but when I drink I just start to remember. And remembering scares the crap out of me, Hazel."
"How do you forget about it all?" I asked.
"I forget when I'm with you."
